The RoleWe’re looking for a Docs Lead to craft beautiful docs and advocate for best-in-class writing practices, showcasing the full potential of GitBook. This role also includes working directly with customers to help elevate and improve their own documentation
You'll own our entire documentation experience: from writing and structuring content to ensuring technical accuracy, visual consistency and top notch user experience.

Shape GitBook's vision for the future of docs - contribute to product direction by bringing forward-thinking ideas about how documentation should evolve
Collaborate with Product, Engineering and Design to clarify technical concepts, maintain consistency and keep our docs up-to-date
Continuously refine content and structure to improve usability and streamline user flows for support and conversion
Be a docs advisor to our customers when needed - join enterprise sales calls and customer conversations to provide strategic guidance on documentation structure and best practices
You'll be our voice in the documentation space - representing GitBook's vision for the future of technical documentation at conferences, with customers, and across the industry
This isn't just writing docs - you'll help shape how 100,000+ technical writers approach their craft through the product we build
First hire means big impact - you'll define our documentation strategy and standards from the ground up with complete creative freedom
Have strong opinions about where documentation is headed
Are energized by the meta challenge: documenting a documentation platform and setting the standard for the entire industry
Have proven experience building and maintaining documentation
Are comfortable working with Git-based workflows
Communicate complex technical ideas in a simple, approachable way
Have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
