Overview of the role
As the Technical Product Manager, Localization, you will oversee the requirement and roadmap for GitLab's localization technologies and processes that enable multilingual content management for global teams and customers. You will help us shift toward AI-augmented localization solutions that fundamentally transform how we manage multilingual content. You will play a crucial role in fulfilling the company's market growth goals through strategic localization initiatives, working at the intersection of product management, localization technology stacks, internationalization engineering, and global market expansion.
What you will do
- Drive the product roadmap for localization tools and processes with a focus on systems integration, user experience, internationalization, and business impact
- Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Technical Writing, User Experience, Marketing and other stakeholders to plan and coordinate cross-disciplinary and interdependent localization initiatives
- Design and document technical specifications for localization and internationalization solutions that streamline systems and workflows
- Develop metrics that demonstrate real-world impact of localization efforts on growth
- Advocate for internationalization requirements across all GitLab products and content
- Mature existing frameworks that integrate generative AI solutions into localization pipelines
- Lead the transition to AI-powered localization management and automation workflows, and context-aware systems
- Collaborate with Marketing and Sales teams to ensure that localization capabilities are effectively communicated to customers and prospects

What you will bring
- Experience with technical product management and a track record of delivering complex localization solutions
- Experience with modern software development lifecycles, CI/CD pipelines, and agile methodologies
- Strong understanding of internationalization (i18n) engineering frameworks and features
- Advanced knowledge of localization tools, enterprise translation practices and localization automation technologies
- Familiarity with ML/AI technologies, including neural machine translation, content adaptation, and language quality prediction
- Vision for how AI will transform the localization industry, and practical experience implementing AI-augmented localization workflows
- Knowledge of web technologies including JavaScript frameworks, static site generators, and headless CMS architectures
- Degree in computer science, product management, project management, or equivalent technical experience
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate ambiguity
- Bias to action, proactive and innovative by nature
- Strong attention to detail
- Self-motivated and self-managing, with excellent organizational skills
- Ability to thrive in a fully remote organization

The base salary range for this role’s listed level is currently for residents of listed locations only. Grade level and salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data.
