We are seeking an experienced people-focused Cloud Operations Manager to lead and develop high-performing Cloud and DevOps teams. This key role combines leadership with technical expertise to drive cloud operations, optimise performance and deliver exceptional results for our clients.
You will play a pivotal role in fostering innovation and contributing to our broader strategic direction. As a leader, you will ensure operational excellence, compliance with standards, and play a key role in shaping the future of our cloud services and overall company growth.
Please note that you will be required to attend our customer's office in Dublin 1-2 days a week.
Required skills:
- Proven experience in leading and managing Cloud or DevOps teams (5+ years).
- Demonstrated success in building, coaching, and retaining high-performing teams.
- Strong understanding of performance management frameworks and goal-setting techniques.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- Experience in implementing operational improvements to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
- Solid knowledge of Agile delivery frameworks (Scrum, Kanban) and modern collaboration tools.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
Key responsibilities & duties include:
Leadership and Team Development:
- Lead, mentor and develop high-performing Cloud and DevOps teams.
- Cultivate a culture of high performance, continuous development, and accountability.
- Set clear performance objectives and metrics to measure success for individuals and teams.
- Implement career progression frameworks, and tailored development plans to foster growth.
- Regularly evaluate team performance, providing constructive feedback and recognition.
- Address underperformance with coaching, development, and decisive action when necessary.
Operational Excellence:
- Optimize reporting structures to ensure operational efficiency and scalability.
- Collaborate with leadership to align team objectives with Amach's strategic goals.
- Streamline workflows and remove bottlenecks to enhance team productivity.
- Ensure adherence to best practices across Agile methodologies and project delivery.
Talent Acquisition and Retention:
- Partner with recruitment teams to attract and hire top-tier talent.
- Establish effective onboarding processes to integrate new team members seamlessly.
- Foster an environment where employees are motivated, inspired, and committed to Amach’s mission.
- Develop strategies to retain high performers and reduce attrition.
Stakeholder and Client Engagement:
- Act as a key liaison between internal teams and external stakeholders, providing project updates, team performance and outcomes clearly and effectively.
- Manage client relationships, ensuring high satisfaction and alignment of deliverables.
- Collaborate with leadership to align team operations with Amach's financial and strategic goals.
- Support project profitability by ensuring teams deliver on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Contribute to bids and proposals by providing insights on team capabilities, resource planning, and operational excellence.
Desirable Skills:
- Hands-on experience leading multi-disciplinary IT teams embedded within client organisations, ideally complex or regulated industries such as aviation or aerospace.
- Relevant AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer) are highly desirable.
- Proven experience in managing cloud operations, with demonstrable experience in AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, IAM, VPC).
- Strong background in designing, deploying, and maintaining scalable, highly available cloud infrastructure in line with best practices.
- Solid understanding of DevOps principles, automation, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
- Experience implementing monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions in cloud environments to ensure high availability and performance.
- Knowledge of cloud cost optimization strategies and experience managing cloud budgets and usage forecasting.
- Familiarity with security and compliance standards relevant to cloud environments, including data protection and identity/access management.
- Experience working in ITIL-based environments, with a strong understanding of incident, change, and problem management processes.
- Exposure to hybrid cloud or multi-cloud strategies is a plus.
