We’re looking for an experienced Senior Tech Lead to help shape and evolve the engineering direction for our customer’s business-critical airline systems. This is a purely technical leadership role (no people management) focused on architecture, technical delivery, and operational excellence.
You will play a key role in setting the technical direction for the Check-In system, influencing other Tech Leads, and guiding best practices across CI/CD, observability, testing, and automation. The role requires a strong architectural mindset and the ability to influence and challenge senior engineers to drive continuous improvement across design, performance, and scalability.
This role requires on-site presence in Dublin at least once a week.
Required skills:
- Extensive hands-on experience in software development and system architecture
- Advanced Java and Spring (Spring Boot / Spring Framework) expertise
- Strong knowledge of AWS, with particular experience in serverless technologies and microservices
- Proven experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks
- Deep understanding of observability, alerting, and system reliability practices
- Ability to define and communicate architectural direction and technical strategy across multiple teams
- Experience influencing senior stakeholders on key non-functional priorities (performance, scalability, cost, and operational efficiency)
Key responsibilities & duties include:
- Set and guide the technical direction for the Check-In system, ensuring best practice across design, delivery, and operations
- Collaborate closely with other Tech Leads to shape architectural decisions and technical culture
- Drive improvements in CI/CD, observability, testing, and automation
- Provide technical feedback and guidance to peers to raise overall engineering standards
- Identify and articulate areas of technical friction and lead efforts to resolve them
- Champion architectural consistency, maintainability, and performance across all systems under scope
- Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, reliable software solutions
Desirable Skills:
- Experience in large-scale enterprise or multinational environments at a Principal Engineer or Senior Staff Engineer level
- Experience with Groovy is beneficial
- Airline or travel industry experience, particularly with check-in systems, is advantageous
- Familiarity with MongoDB is a plus, though not required
