Element is the largest publicly traded pure-play automotive fleet manager in the world. Our success is driven by our Purpose to Move the world through intelligent mobility, and fueled by our team members who help our clients manage fleets that deliver the goods and services our communities rely on. We are looking for more Purpose-driven, client-centered, and inclusive team members to join us.
We are looking for..
The Strategic Alliances Manager is a individual contributor responsible for management-accounting-calibre, income-statement-style reporting on Purchase-Related Revenue (“PRR”) (ie. "gross”) and Purchase-Related Income (“PRI”) (ie. “net”) generated from Element’s supplier relationships. This role bridges economic and operating analyses: it connects rate, volume, mix, and program mechanics to financial outcomes, yielding high-impact but heretofore-unavailable insights that support Strategic Alliances category strategies, negotiations with suppliers, and performance management.
The successful candidate will source, reconcile, and structure data from multiple operational and financial systems (eg. PostgreSQL, Snowflake, mainframe, SAP, OneStream) and play a crucial role in shaping how these data are stored and leveraged in Element’s evolving architecture (eg. Snowflake, ServiceNow, MDM). In the near term, this is a hands-on, Excel-heavy role; in 6-12 months, it will begin to help define – and, ultimately, leverage – advanced reporting capabilities in “SSRM” (ServiceNow S2P and TPRM).
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
PRR Statement & Management Reporting
- Build and maintain an income-statement-style view of PRR for Strategic Alliances, by category, program, and region.
- Establish a repeatable monthly and quarterly reporting package that clearly shows what PRR we generated, from whom, and why.
- Decompose PRR performance into rate, volume, mix, and other operational drivers, highlighting variances to prior periods and targets.
- Enable simple but high-impact (and heretofore-unavailable) analyses, grounded in high-integrity (ie. “source-of-truth”) data.
Gross & Net Supplier Revenue Analyses
- Develop and maintain a robust understanding of all mechanisms through which PRR is shared with clients (where applicable), including markdowns, passthrough, credits, and any other commercial arrangements.
- Incorporate “net” (ie. PRI) views into PRR reporting (ie. to show what portion of PRR Element retains after sharing with clients).
- Partner with Finance counterparts to ensure definitions, calculations, and allocation methodologies are clear, consistent, and aligned with management accounting principles.
- Identify and communicate insights regarding profitability trends, risk areas, and opportunities to improve program economics.
Data Sourcing, Structuring & Integrity
- Map and master all relevant data sources required to support PRR reporting across operational and financial systems (eg. PostgreSQL, Snowflake, mainframe, SAP, OneStream, and any regional data sources in Mexico, Australia and/or New Zealand).
- Extract, cleanse, reconcile and organize data into structures that support repeatable, efficient reporting and analysis.
- Develop and maintain documentation of data lineage, business rules, and key assumptions so that reporting is transparent and sustainable.
- Partner with relevant colleagues to influence the design of Snowflake data models and the SSRM platform to ensure they support Strategic Alliances reporting needs.
Decision Support & Strategy/Negotiation Analytics
- Provide ad hoc analysis and scenario modelling to support OEM and other supplier negotiations, business cases, and Strategic Alliances strategy development.
- Translate financial and operational analysis into clear, concise materials for use in internal reviews, supplier QBRs, and other stakeholder forums (as required).
- Help quantify the impact of proposed commercial changes (eg. pricing changes, program design changes, volume commitments etc.) on PRR and PRI.
Stakeholder Engagement & Continuous Improvement
- Serve as the go-to internal expert on PRR and Strategic Alliances financial/operational performance data.
- Proactively identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and improve reporting and data processes.
- Educate Strategic Alliances team members on how to interpret and use reports to drive better decisions and outcomes.
Position Requirements
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Engineering, or related discipline; or equivalent business experience.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in financial reporting, management accounting, commercial/operations analytics, procurement/sourcing analytics, or a closely related field.
- Experience in a complex, data-rich environment (eg. financial services, leasing, fleet management, or similar) preferred.
- Experience working with or alongside Strategic Alliances, Procurement, Sourcing, or Supplier Relationship Management functions is an asset.
- Internal Element experience and familiarity with Element systems (eg. PostgreSQL, Snowflake, mainframe, SAP, OneStream) strongly preferred given the complexity and dispersion of source data.
Knowledge and Competencies
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, complex formulas, nested logic, lookups/INDEX-MATCH, basic modelling); able to build robust workbooks to support recurring reporting and analysis.
- Strong understanding of management accounting concepts, including revenue recognition at a management-reporting level, gross margin analysis, and variance analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to link operational drivers (rate, volume, mix, program design) to financial outcomes and explain these relationships clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
- Comfortable working with large, imperfect data sets; able to extract, cleanse, reconcile, and structure data from multiple systems with discipline and attention to detail.
- Experience with ERP/EPM and operational systems (eg. SAP, OneStream, mainframe environments, sourcing/procurement tools) preferred.
- Experience with modern data platforms and/or reporting environments (e.g., data warehouses such as Snowflake, workflow/reporting tools, or BI tools) is a plus; ability to define requirements for such tools is more important than hands-on development.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; proven ability to move from raw data to clear insight and recommended actions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to present complex financial and operational information in a concise, accessible way for executives and non-technical audiences.
- High degree of ownership, curiosity, and persistence in resolving data issues and closing analytical gaps.
- Ability to work effectively across functions, regions, and levels of seniority, including both operational and executive stakeholders.
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and curious/inquisitive nature are necessities.
