Are you bready* for a change?
As a Staff Software Engineer on Toast's 3rd Party Ordering team, you will build seamless integrations that connect tens of thousands of restaurants with popular delivery platforms and ordering services. You will design and build new, high-volume integrations that drive meaningful revenue for our restaurants. You bring deep technical understanding of distributed systems and integration patterns, with the experience to guide architectural decisions that ensure reliability at scale. You are product-minded, building strong partnerships with PM and UX to optimize the ordering experience for both restaurant operators and their customers, while collaborating effectively with platform partners and internal Toast teams.
About this roll* (Responsibilities)
- Work collaboratively with UX, PM, QA and other engineers building web applications using modern technologies
- Drive best practices and help choose technologies to evolve our current tech stack while writing world-class applications
- Provide expert design feedback and input deeply into code reviews to ensure implementations meet requirements
- Ensure that all work done by the team is delivered with quality and is appropriately monitored and supported in production
- Deliver significant products and core capabilities across teams becoming a domain expert for our product
- Coach and mentor other team members to enhance the team's effectiveness
- Leverage cutting edge AI tools to enhance your development workflow, improve velocity, and help pioneer new approaches to building - contributing to a culture of innovation and productivity across the team
Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)
- Passionate about building great software
- Driven by impact and solving for the customer
- Proficient in all aspects of backend development
- Experience with Java, Kotlin, or similar object-oriented languages
- Proficient in software development best practices, including observability and testing
- Experience delivering high-quality, reliable services to production at scale
- Excellent cross-team communication skills on complex technical topics
- Familiar with traditional databases and alternative data stores
