Who We Are
The Product-Led Growth (PLG) team on Toast Web owns key surfaces across the Toast web experience - from discovery to re-engagement. We focus on increasing customer activation, conversion, and retention through experimentation, performance improvements, and targeted features. We build and iterate quickly, test ideas at scale, and obsess over insights from our metrics.
We’re looking for a Staff Engineer who brings deep technical expertise, strong product instincts, and a passion for creating leverage through platform thinking. This is a high-impact role for a systems-minded leader who thrives on cross-functional collaboration and is motivated by outcomes, not just output.
About this roll* (Responsibilities)
In this role, you’ll join a cross-functional team focused on growth loops, optimising guest funnels, and accelerating customer success through experimentation and innovation. You’ll:
- Lead architecture and system design for performant, accessible frontend experiences across growth funnels and guest-facing surfaces
- Identify, design, and execute complex experiments that drive measurable business outcomes
- Build scalable patterns and frameworks to support high-velocity experimentation and delivery
- Partner with Product, Design, and Data Science to shape strategy and translate insights into technical action
- Collaborate across teams to influence shared components, analytics instrumentation, and platform improvements
- Provide strong technical mentorship and thought leadership across frontend systems, with influence across design, experimentation, and data integration
- Raise the bar for technical excellence through code, documentation, and reviews
- Leverage cutting edge AI tools to enhance your development workflow, improve velocity, and help pioneer new approaches to building - contributing to a culture of innovation and productivity across the team
- 8+ years of professional software development experience, with a strong record of delivering scalable systems in web environments
- Deep expertise in modern frontend technologies (React, TypeScript, CSS-in-JS, etc.)
- Strong systems thinking and ability to design for experimentation, observability, and performance
- Experience influencing product direction through technical insight and user data
- Familiarity with product analytics tools (Amplitude, Heap, GA) and A/B testing frameworks
- Comfortable with AWS and other cloud-native infrastructure
- Known for being a technical mentor and multiplier for those around you
- Strong communicator who can work across disciplines to bring clarity and alignment to complex problems
**This is a hybrid role requiring in-office presence two days per week**
