The Member Experience Engineering team builds the web and mobile experiences that Spring Health members use to access care.  We blaze trails with green field innovation, iterate rapidly on feature roadmaps, and optimize the experiences to reduce friction.

We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join a team responsible for our internal developer experience tools and pipelines, as well as engineering excellence infrastructure such as automated testing platforms and static analysis capabilities.

The role is full time, reports to a VP of Engineering, is full remote (or optionally hybrid if you happen to live near Manhattan), with travel opportunities at least twice per year for in person events.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leveling up our internal developer experience through planned evolution
  • Leading by example with hands on refactoring and net new developer facing projects
  • Applying your passion for developer experience to high impact risks and opportunities
  • Executing quickly and efficiently in a collaborative team setting
  • Contributing to a thriving team of engineers around you
  • Providing technical direction and oversight for a larger organization

What success looks like in this role:

  • Energetic immersion in developer experience and engineering excellence projects
  • On time planned deliveries and high velocity incremental deliveries
  • High quality engineering output, in terms of both product and codebase
  • Trend of reducing technical debt reduction and improving engineering excellence 
  • Great productive relationships in engineering and other functions that contribute to product development
  • Organization wide leadership as an exemplary engineer and mentor

What we expect from you:

  • At least 10 years experience as a software engineer
  • At least 5 years of experience with React, TypeScript and/or Flutter
  • At least 5 years of experience with Ruby on Rails and AWS
  • At least 5 years of experience focused on developer experience in particular
  • Track record of proactive and collaborative leadership style
  • Track record of technical leadership, creating clarity from ambiguity

The target base salary range for this position is $200,800 - $245,000, and is part of a competitive total rewards package including stock options and benefits. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations. We review all employee pay and compensation programs annually using Radford Global Compensation Database at minimum to ensure competitive and fair pay.
