Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn't work together.
So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions - to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we've embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.
Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes - large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. The Role
You will build for local service sellers that sell their time and expertise. They need seamless workflows from booking to payment to customer re‑engagement. You will lead product development for our highest‑impact initiatives across Appointments, Invoices, Payments, Risk, Banking, and AI.
You'll champion the end-to-end seller journey and turn real-world insights into elegantly simple workflows that "just work" that millions of sellers every month depend on. You'll lead a tight-knit, full-stack squad and partner with design, engineering, marketing, data science, and risk. You'll shape payments and customer growth tools that are effortless to adopt, delightful to use, and clearly positioned in the market. By tightly aligning product development with go-to-market strategy, you'll help sellers unlock the full Square ecosystem: from booking customers to getting paid and managing cash flow.
You Will
  • Define Product Strategy & Vision
    • Craft and evangelize a multi‑year strategy for local service sellers that aligns with Square's broader ecosystem vision.
    • Identify bold opportunities to unlock GPV retention and share of wallet through alternative payments and vertically tailored risk experiences.
  • Drive Product Development & Execution
    • Drive 0‑to‑1 and 1‑to‑n launches across web, mobile, APIs, and AI surfaces
    • Define clear success metrics; leverage data and experimentation to inform decisions and iterate
    • Relentless and able to help the team push through obstacles and blockers to deliver value for our customers.
  • Lead Cross‑Functional Teams
    • Lead a high‑performing, full‑stack product squad and influence dozens of partner teams across Payments, Risk, Banking, and Commerce.
    • Inspire creativity, efficiency, and a culture of customer obsession, design-led thinking, and high‑velocity execution.
  • Innovate on Seller & Buyer Experiences
    • Re‑imagine buyer and seller payment flows to make paying for services easier than it's ever been
    • Seamlessly integrate Product with GTM tactics to help sellers get the most value from Square.

You have:
  • 10+ years of product management or related experience with a track record of shipping elegant, scalable B2B SaaS and/or fintech products.
  • Proven leadership of complex, cross‑org initiatives from strategy definition through launch and scale.
  • Strong design sense and passion for crafting delightful end‑to‑end user experiences.
  • Data‑informed decision maker; comfortable defining KPIs, running experiments, and telling stories with numbers.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication; able to influence senior leaders and diverse stakeholders. You have a track record of driving alignment and delivering results with cross-functional partners.
  • Deep empathy for small business owners and a growth mindset that challenges the status quo.

Nice to Have
  • Expertise in SaaS pricing, vertical SaaS for services or beauty, and alternative payment networks.
  • Mix of B2B and B2C product experience.
  • Experience scaling product development processes and mentoring PM teams.

The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
