This isn’t just a coding role. As a Staff Engineer at Mixmax, you’ll shape our technical direction, influence key product decisions, and help evolve our system into a scalable, event-driven architecture. You’ll lead cross-functional initiatives, mentor fellow engineers, and play a critical role in scaling both our product and our engineering culture.

What You’ll Be Doing- Lead complex initiatives across multiple product or platform teams
- Design and build scalable, secure, and maintainable systems
- Contribute directly to critical backend or frontend codebases
- Support our move from a monolithic system to an event-driven architecture (EventBridge, Lambdas, DynamoDB)
- Partner with PMs, Designers, and EMs to align engineering with business outcomes
- Mentor engineers and raise the bar for engineering quality, documentation, and reliability
- Influence our long-term technical roadmap and architectural decisions
- You’ve built and shipped complex products at startups or fast-paced environments
- You’re comfortable owning large-scale initiatives from idea to production
- You write clean, well-structured code and care deeply about maintainability and reliability
- You’re collaborative and believe in strong communication, especially on distributed teams
- You think beyond features—you care about performance, security, and user experience
- You enjoy mentoring, knowledge-sharing, and helping teams grow
- Deep expertise in backend development, but comfortable working across the stack
- Strong experience with TypeScript and Node.js
- Comfort with MongoDB, AWS-based architectures (bonus for EventBridge, Lambdas, DynamoDB) and IaC tools
- Familiarity building and working with with AI tools
- Proven experience working in cross-functional product teams
- A track record of making pragmatic, high-impact technical decisions
- Previous experience mentoring or hiring great engineers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
