THE OPPORTUNITY

As part of our continued investment in Ireland, KKR is launching a Technology & Engineering Centre of Excellence in Dublin. This new hub will play a central role in developing proprietary, cloud-native platforms that drive innovation and deliver measurable impact across our global operations. Areas of focus include investment technology, portfolio construction and management, liquidity solutions, risk analytics, and advanced data platforms.

This is an exceptional opportunity to join a growing team within one of the world’s leading investment firms. You will contribute to high-visibility, strategic initiatives that are critical to the success of KKR’s business — working alongside talented professionals at the forefront of technology in the asset management industry.

Our engineering teams build systems that help shape the future of the firm. We’re committed to attracting and developing top-tier technology talent in Ireland. We’re looking for exceptional engineers and developers who are passionate about innovation, thrive in collaborative environments, and want to work on some of the most interesting challenges in financial technology.

THE TEAM

The Investment Technology group at KKR builds and operates the systems that power the entire investment lifecycle—from deal sourcing and portfolio construction to risk management and monetization. We design platforms that connect data, people, and insights across Private Equity, Credit, Real Estate, Infrastructure, and Capital Markets, enabling investment teams to make faster, smarter decisions at scale. Our mandate is to transform how KKR invests by engineering shared, data-driven platforms that replace fragmented legacy tools with integrated solutions that drive efficiency, transparency, and alpha generation.

THE ROLE

As a Staff Engineer joining the Risk & Performance Engineering team, you will define the technical vision for key parts of our stack, shaping how data, analytics, and applications come together to drive business value.

You’ll combine deep engineering expertise with a strategic mindset—designing scalable systems, mentoring top talent, and setting standards for technical excellence. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives at the intersection of engineering, data, and finance. You will drive our Risk platform forward and help ensure a culture of engineering excellence across the wider organization.

Our stack includes AWS, SQL & NoSQL databases, Redis, Python, and React, with a growing emphasis on AI-assisted development and automation to enhance speed and quality across the SDLC.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead Architecture and Strategy: Define and evolve the architecture for complex, cloud-native systems that support KKR’s investment operations.
  • Shape Engineering Practices: Establish standards for design, testing, observability, and CI/CD across multiple teams.
  • Drive Innovation: Identify and introduce new tools, frameworks, and AI-driven approaches that improve developer efficiency and data insights, collaborating closely with business & product stakeholders.
  • Mentor and Grow Talent: Coach engineers at all levels, cultivating technical depth, ownership, and continuous improvement.
  • Deliver Measurable Impact: Align technology initiatives to business objectives, using OKRs to measure progress and outcomes.
  • Champion Reliability and Security: Ensure systems are built for resilience, performance, and compliance, and ensure they are well supported.
  • Influence Talent Decisions: Play a key role in recruiting and retaining top engineering talent through technical leadership and cultural alignment.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, exhibiting technical leadership across complex, distributed systems.
  • Proven success designing and scaling cloud-based platforms (AWS experience strongly preferred).
  • Expertise in one or more object oriented languages (Python, Java, C++, etc) and strong familiarity with modern front-end frameworks such as React.
  • Solid understanding of database technologies (SQL & NoSQL), with experience in optimizing data models, caching, and performance.
  • Proficient in leveraging AI tools within the developer workflow to enhance productivity and quality.
  • Effective communicator who can connect technical vision to business goals.
  • Experienced mentor who elevates the skills and judgment of others.
  • Curiosity and enthusiasm for finance and investment technology.
  • Strategic thinker who values simplicity, automation, and measurable results.
  • Proven record of ownership, able to deliver in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment, with exceptional attention to detail.
