The Conversational AI group are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the team and drive the development of cutting-edge conversational AI solutions with a focus on Generative AI systems at global scale (reaching over 8,000 organizations in 100+ countries). In this role, you will design, build, and optimize AI-driven systems that interact intelligently and autonomously with users and other systems. You will collaborate closely with AI/ML engineers, UX designers, and product teams supporting each other to bring state-of-the-art AI technologies to production.

What You Will Do:

Design, develop, and maintain agentic AI systems that power conversational interfaces.

Architect and optimize large-scale AI pipelines for real-time and asynchronous interactions.

Develop high-performance, scalable, and reliable backend systems to support AI-driven applications.

Collaborate with AI researchers, data scientists, and product teams to translate cutting-edge research into production-grade solutions.

Build and integrate LLM-powered agents capable of multi-turn reasoning, decision-making, and task execution.

Implement best practices for scalability, security, and reliability in AI-driven applications.

Develop and maintain APIs and microservices for AI-powered applications as part of our wider platform.

Write efficient, maintainable, and well-documented code and tests.

Conduct code reviews and mentor junior engineers to maintain high development standards.

Learn about enhancing conversational models through fine-tuning, reinforcement learning, and prompt engineering.

Learn about the latest advancements in conversational AI, agentic AI, and NLP.
What We're Looking For:

Ideally, a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or related disciplines. However, this is not a hard requirement as we recognise there are many diverse paths into software careers.

4+ years of professional software development experience.

Strong proficiency in Python.
-
Expertise in software engineering principles, system architecture, and distributed computing.
-
Proficiency in building and maintaining highly available and scalable APIs and microservices.

Experience deploying and scaling using cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

Strong knowledge of database systems (SQL and NoSQL) and caching strategies.
-
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Desirable Experience or an Interest in Learning:

Hands on experience with AI/ML systems.

Experience of developing REST API’s using frameworks such as FastAPI, Spring Boot, or Flask-RESTX.

Experience with real-time AI-driven applications (e.g., chatbots, voice assistants, AI copilots).

Hands-on experience with LLMs (e.g., GPT, Claude, Mistral), fine-tuning, and prompt engineering.

Experience with AI agent frameworks (e.g., Bedrock, LangChain, AutoGPT, OpenAI Function Calling).

Experience with multi-agent systems and autonomous reasoning frameworks.

Familiarity with vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, FAISS) for embedding-based retrieval.

Contributions to open-source AI projects, research publications, or patents in AI/ML.
