As a Senior Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Infrastructure Platforms organization, you are an integral part of an agile team dedicated to enhancing, building, and delivering trusted, market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable manner. Your role involves promoting significant business impact through your expertise and contributions, utilizing deep technical knowledge and problem-solving skills to address a wide range of challenges across multiple technologies and applications. With one of the largest on-prem private cloud platforms, JPMorgan Chase requires highly scaled distributed systems to interpret the vast operational observability data it generates. We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic lead engineer to advance these platforms. Your background in software development, data, and distributed systems design will be essential in this role.

Job responsibilities
- Design, implement, and operate distributed telemetry systems to transport, enrich and present Observability data for the firm
- Work with Clients and stakeholders to make recommendations for how to evolve our platform to meet customer needs
- Produce rich visualizations on this data to tell the story of JPMorgan Chase's private cloud adoption, growth, and operations
- Regularly provides technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors
- Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
- Drives decisions that influence the product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes
- Serves as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus
- Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firm wide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Influences peers and project decision-makers to consider the use and application of leading-edge technologies
- Adds to the team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on Software Engineering concepts and proficient advanced experience
- Multiple years experience of technical leadership in an equivalent role
- Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Advanced in one or more programming language(s)
- Advanced knowledge of software applications and technical processes with considerable in-depth knowledge in one or more technical disciplines (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
- Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight
- Practical cloud native experience
- Experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field
- Experience building and scaling distributed systems
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Knowledge of telemetry platforms like Prometheus, Grafana
- Experience deploying applications on Kubernetes (experience managing Kubernetes clusters a bonus)
- Mastery of multiple programming languages and/or paradigms (Golang a bonus)
