About Telematics motor insurance
What you need to know:
Telematics motor insurance, also known as black box insurance or usage-based insurance (UBI), uses technology to monitor an individual's actual driving habits to calculate their insurance premium. This approach enables an insurer to provide a more personalized and potentially cheaper price, especially for drivers who are considered high-risk based on general demographic data, such as young or new inexperienced drivers.
About the role
What you need to know
We have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Telematics Motor Underwriter to join the Personal Auto team.
In this role you will:
.
- Work with our motor underwriting team to update and refresh policy terms, conditions, and wordings of all AIG underwritten telematics products.
- Assist the underwriting and product teams with telematics product development including updating underwriting rules and coverage limits and benefits.
- Work with our actuarial and product teams to roll out and deploy enhancements in driving score algorithms across multiple telematics products.
- Assist the product head in the monitoring of all service level agreement (SLA) benchmarks that support the successful running of the telematics product ecosystem.
- Work with product head and underwriting team to refine, improve and optimize new business sales and retention strategies across all existing telematics products.
- Participate in telematics vendor and partner oversight governance meetings.
- Support the product head and underwriting team with ongoing broker and partner engagement by participating in monthly and quarterly governance meetings.
- Ensure all telematics products adhere to AIG underwriting and governance policies, guidelines and procedures through robust referral management.
- Monitor agreed upon underwriting corrective action plans with actual to expected result measurements across all telematics products.
- Work with the underwriting team to support the implementation of a continuous improvement framework.
- Contribute and proactively engage in all departmental meetings including producing presentation decks, minute taking, presenting data and providing technical updates.
- Demonstrate market awareness and utilize knowledge and expertise to enhance product growth.
What we’re looking for:’
- Strong technical underwriting knowledge with a minimum of 2 years’ experience. (preferred not essential).
- A strategic thinker with a strong business acumen and with a proven track record of making sound judgments backed by analytical and quantitative skills.
- Strong communication (oral and written) and influencing skills and demonstrated ability. to work across interdisciplinary teams.
- Ability to work independently, challenge status quo and promote new solutions.
- Strong ability to work with different sources of information and big quantity of data.
- Process expertise and familiarity with IT systems and in Microsoft office.
- CIP/MDI qualification (preferred not essential).
