Job Description

As a Software QA Engineer in our Global Research & Development organization at Bose, you will be a key individual contributor responsible for validating embedded software in our next-generation headphones and speakers. You will lead rigorous testing efforts across software features, troubleshoot complex issues, and coordinate closely with firmware, hardware, and mobile teams to deliver high-quality, user-ready experiences. This role combines hands-on execution with ownership of quality standards and cross-functional collaboration.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and execute structured test plans for embedded audio platforms.

  • Verify new feature functionality using black-box and white-box testing approaches.

  • Use tools such as Wireshark, BlueSuite, and on-device logging to analyze and troubleshoot system behavior.

  • Collaborate with QA leads and developers to report, investigate, document, triage, and validate resolutions of issues.

  • Create and maintain internal test documentation, including feature validation guidelines, test execution walkthroughs, and troubleshooting best practices.

  • Participate in sprint activities, design reviews, and cross-team QA planning.

  • Use TestRail to track coverage, test results, and defect trends.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of team QA practices and mentorship of junior team members.

  • Ensure robust Bluetooth validation and end-to-end integration readiness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in embedded software quality assurance testing.

  • Strong understanding of software validation, defect investigation, and root cause analysis.

  • Proficiency using diagnostic tools such as Wireshark and BlueSuite.

  • Demonstrated success working with cross-functional product teams.

  • Experience using TestRail or similar test management tools.

  • Proficiency with Bluetooth or Wi-Fi fundamentals is not required but highly beneficial in this role.

  • Scripting is not required, though basic familiarity may be used for diagnostics or workflow efficiency.
