Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

What Does a Successful SDET Do?

A successful SDET ensures the delivery of high-quality platform enabler solutions by designing robust automated test frameworks and identifying defects early in the development lifecycle. They foster collaboration between development and QA teams, continuously improving processes and tools to maintain efficiency. Their technical expertise and proactive approach ensure reliable and secure software that meets the highest standards.

What You Will Do

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks for functional, integration, and performance testing.
• Collaborate with development and product teams to ensure comprehensive test coverage.
• Execute automated and manual tests, analyse results, and track defects using established tools.
• Continuously enhance test automation infrastructure and processes for efficiency.
• Participate in code reviews, focusing on testability and quality aspects.
• Develop and implement best practices and standards for high-quality software delivery.
• Monitor and maintain stable test environments representative of production.
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging testing technologies.

What You Will Need to Have

• Proven experience as an SDET or similar role in a tech-driven organisation.
• Strong programming skills in Java, Python, or C#. Understanding of API design and testing with tools like Postman and JMeter.
• Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks like Selenium, JUnit, or TestNG.
• Solid understanding of Agile, DevOps, and software development methodologies.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or CircleCI. Experience with Page Object Model structures in test automation.
• Familiarity with ISTQB certification concepts. Relevant certifications (e.g., ISTQB, CSTE) to demonstrate expertise.
• Understanding of API design and testing with tools like Postman and JMeter.
• Knowledge of advanced test automation practices and strategies. Prior experience in maintaining complex test environments. Familiarity with security testing practices and tools.
