Role Title: Software Developer (CMS)
Overview:
As a Software Developer at DOCOsoft, you will contribute to the ongoing development and maintenance of a business-critical ASP.NET application used across the London and Global Insurance Markets.
You will work within a large, established monolithic codebase backed by SQL Server, operating primarily on-premise, with some customer deployments hosted on Azure (IaaS). This is a hands-on role focused on building reliable, well-tested software in a domain where correctness, stability, and data integrity are essential.
You will operate within an agile, cross-functional team, delivering incremental improvements and high-quality enhancements to a mature system.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain features and enhancements within an established ASP.NET application.
- Write clear, maintainable, and well-tested code aligned with existing architectural patterns and conventions.
- Develop and optimise SQL Server queries, stored procedures, and data access logic.
- Investigate, diagnose, and resolve defects, including issues identified in production environments.
- Contribute to incremental improvements in code quality, structure, and maintainability within the constraints of the current architecture.
- Participate actively in code reviews, sprint ceremonies, and technical discussions.
- Collaborate closely with QA to ensure changes are thoroughly tested and regression-safe.
- Build a strong understanding of business workflows, data models, and system dependencies to deliver changes safely and confidently.
Key Requirements:
- 3–5 years’ professional experience delivering and maintaining production software, including working within established or legacy systems (non-greenfield).
- Strong C# and ASP.NET experience, with solid SQL Server and T-SQL capability.
- Experience building or maintaining REST APIs and working with Git-based workflows.
- Demonstrated focus on quality, including writing unit tests, applying solid object-oriented principles, and maintaining backward compatibility.
- Experience supporting production systems, including diagnosing issues and understanding deployment considerations.
- Exposure to on-premise environments and familiarity with Azure IaaS deployments.
- Comfortable working in Agile teams and collaborating cross-functionally to deliver incremental improvements.
