Site Reliability Engineer

Overview of Position:

Speedcast delivers highly customizable, critical communication solutions for remote sites. As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will be working with a team of software, systems, and network engineers, to develop, deliver, and operate next generation communication products over a variety of common and highly specialized communication paths. This role will be responsible for working independently, actively, and confidently promote improvements, and incorporate new technologies, throughout the lifecycle of each product.

What you will do:

  • Analyze, design and implement continuous integration/continuous delivery pipelines.

  • Design infrastructure-as-code standard processes and toolkit.

  • Support architectural decisions on all product implementations.

  • Drive architectural excellence, improving observability and monitoring.

  • Identify improvement areas and recommend design changes for maintaining operational excellence.

What we need from you:

  • Demonstrable Proficiency/Experience in managing Linux based systems

  • Experience in building/deploying using containers (e.g., Docker, LXD)

  • Experience building/deploying using containers (e.g., K8s, Amazon ECS/EKS)

  • Experience In scripting (e.g., bash, python)

  • Experience with infrastructure as code tools (e.g., CloudFormation, Terraform)

  • Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible)

  • Experience with source version control (git)

  • Experience with designing and deploying robust, cloud-native architectures

  • Experience implementing CI/CD Pipelines (e.g., AWS CodeBuild/CodePipeline, Bitbucket Pipelines, Github Actions)

Even better if you have:

  • Experience in the Linux network stack (routing & firewall)

  • Experience in software defined switching/networking (e.g., Openvswitch)

  • Experience designing network architectures (e.g., ELB, Cloudfront, Route53)

  • Experience designing data structures/database schemas (e.g., YAML, JSON, SQL, NoSQL)

  • Experience in SQL and caching databases (e.g., MySQL, Redis)

  • Experience with serverless AWS services (e.g., API Gateway, Lambda, ECS Fargate)

  • Familiarity with Scrum and other Agile processes
