In 2009, Riot released its debut title League of Legends and has since gone on to become the most played PC game in the world and a key driver of the explosive growth of esports. Improving experiences for a global audience while also building new games gives our User Experience discipline exciting and complex problems to solve. Our focus on the player experience places designers in a rare position to influence product direction through bold design decisions. We strive to connect players with others and ultimately want to turn strangers into friends, creating meaningful shared experiences for years to come.

As a Senior User Experience Designer, you’ll be responsible for the design work in a high-scope product area that is complex and ambiguous. The spaces will generally encompass multiple features and sometimes span across teams. You will apply design thinking and take a broad approach to ensure experiential continuity across platforms and touch points. You’ll work from concept through development and collaborate with other designers to achieve your goals. Your colleagues will be based in both Dublin and Los Angeles, and you will use your impeccable collaboration skills to be able to work across timezones.

This role will be based in the Dublin office on a hybrid basis on a 12 month contract.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate across teams to design large-scale products for players
  • Communicate your data-informed vision and design rationale to cross-functional stakeholders
  • Deliver appropriate level of design artifacts for the team (e.g., Strategy articulation, discovery/ research results, journey maps, flows, wireframes, mockups and/or prototypes)
  • Break down experiences thoughtfully for teams to be able to ship value incrementally (i.e., Minimum viable experience)
  • Manage experiential quality and consistency across features end-to-end
  • Work with Design discipline leadership to establish design best-practices and quality standards
Required Qualifications:
  • 4+ years experience designing digital experiences, products, and platforms as a User Experience Designer or Interaction Designer
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Sketch or other industry design and prototyping tools
Desired Qualifications:
  • 6+ years experience in user experience design or interactive design
  • B.A. in Human-Computer Interaction, Visual Design, Interaction Design, User Experience Design, or a related field
  • Experience working in the video game industry, with live-service gaming experience being a plus
  • Experience working across timezones in a distributed team environment
  • Familiarity with game engines (Unity / Unreal)
  • As a part of the application process, candidates will be expected to provide a portfolio of their work.

For this role, you'll find success through craft expertise, a collaborative spirit, and decision-making that prioritizes the delight of players. We will be looking at your past studies, experience, and your personal relationship with games. If you embody player empathy and care about players' experiences, this could be your role!

At Riot Games, we put players first. That mission drives every decision in our quest to create games and experiences that make it better to be a player. Whether you’re working directly on a new player-facing experience or you’re supporting the company as a whole, everyone at Riot is part of our mission. And just like in our games, we’re better when we work together. Our goal is to create collaborative teams where you are empowered to bring your unique perspective everyday. If that sounds like the kind of place you want to work, we’re looking forward to your application.
