As a Senior Solution Consultant, you will be responsible for providing technical/functional support to prospective clients and customers, understanding their requirements (industry/business/IT), driving value from the usage of our solutions, building credibility and trust with your audience, while ensuring overall customer satisfaction from your engagements with them. You will act as a resource and role model for less experienced Solution Consultants, as well as develop and deliver high-quality presentations and demonstrations. The expectations are that you can present and articulate advanced product features and benefits while articulating the value to the customer.
You are eligible to apply for this role by demonstrating the ability to understand business process needs and to conceptualise which needs can be satisfied through our software and technology, infusing value, tailored for the prospect, for any product presentation, and be able to talk in financial terms and present a high level view of a business case, working closely with a Value Consultant.

A Senior Solution Consultant is expected to work side by side with our prospects and customers. The position requires a unique blend of business process, listening, technical design, and communication skills.

Job Description

Leadership: A Senior Solution Consultant is expected to lead in several ways, incl.:
  • Supporting the sales team as the expert on the business process aspects of Guidewire solutions throughout the sales cycle;

  • Successful mentoring of other sales consultants, which includes creating and executing a training plan and seeing the plan through to completion;

  • Initiating knowledge sharing - hosting show-and-tells, or segments of training sessions to foster growth;

  • Leading key projects outside of working sales opportunities;

  • Leading “user test drive/workshop” sessions. The individual should be experienced in independently crafting the strategy (understanding the goal, defining objectives, and executing on the goals) for these sessions;

  • Leading the creation of messaging for the customer/prospect tailored to their unique requirements

Collegiality:Working as a team is crucial. This involves:
  • Identifying new customer requirements and working with Product Management and Principal Solution Consultants to design solutions to those requirements;

  • Providing input and support to the Solution Engineering team;

  • Strong teamwork and networking skills;

  • Sharing new information learned on deals regarding competitive knowledge, demo tips and tricks, or simply lessons learned while on-site

Product Knowledge:
  • Proven expertise with product knowledge. The individual should be carving a path of becoming extremely deep in multiple products while maintaining specialization and stretching domain expertise with additional products.

  • Be able to present an end-to-end demonstration that includes all parts of the Analytics, Data, Core, and Digital story. It is not expected that deep dive demonstration capabilities are present in all products; however, the value of each product should be known, and the individual should be able to back up these messages with product demonstrations.

  • Complete product RFP's, independently display industry expertise

  • Has had key roles in deals.

  • Senior Solution Consultants are expected to be self-sufficient in supporting their own demonstration environments

  • Sr. Functional SC’s must be able to demonstrate business-level, UI-level, and rule-level product configurations in the GWCP solutions.

  • Sr. Technical SC's must prove their ability to translate business requirements into configurations that support the functional requirements using creativity and effective collaboration. An understanding of the business requirements and how they map to the applications is required.

Industry Knowledge - Commercial lines
  • Understanding of the major lines of business insurers write, their risks, and how they’re administered in a core system

  • Understanding of the end-to-end lifecycle, with deeper expertise in one of the following areas:

    • Distribution & Sales

      • Broker-led, agency networks, MGAs.

    • Underwriting & Rating

      • Risk selection, classification, exposure rating, and experience rating.

      • Multi-line and multi-location risks.

      • Use of external data sources (geocoding, credit scoring, IoT)

    • Policy Administration

      • Co-insurance / Reinsurance

      • International business and Multi-national programs

      • Layering

    • Claims

    • Billing

    • Accounting, Money Flows and International Taxes

    • (Reinsurance & Risk Transfer)

  • Fluency in insurer economics (How Insurers Make Money - Premiums vs. claims vs. expenses, Key Ratios, Exposure Management, Reserving, Experience Modification, Capital Efficiency)

  • Experience in one of the Continental European Market-Specifics (Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Benelux)

  • Regulatory Awareness (Solvency II, IDD (Insurance Distribution Directive), IFRS 17, sanctions compliance, etc.) and familiarity with local regulators (e.g., BaFin in Germany, PRA/FCA in the UK, ACPR in France)

Presentation Skills:You are expected to have strong presentation skills, including:
  • Presenting complex, customized demonstrations tailored to customer requirements, teaming with a Technical Solution Consulting teammate as necessary

  • Ability to present a full-day scripted demo

  • Ability to plan and execute a multi-day demonstration

  • Delivers compelling demonstrations with strategic messaging, consistently improving content and message

  • Strong oral and written communication skills - ability to fulfill both oral and written aspects of the role, both in their native language and English

  • Strong technical aptitude

  • Demonstrated ability to embrace AI and apply it to your current role as well as data-driven insights to drive innovation, productivity, and continuous improvement.

It is expected that the Sr. Solution Consultant will travel to where the opportunities are based, but typically 50-60% travel is required, with some week-to-week variance.
