ABOUT THIS ROLE
Job Summary: Join our Apex Platform Sustaining Engineering team as a Senior Software Engineer, where you will play a vital role in improving and maintaining the functionality, reliability, and safety of our Software development toolkit. Your day-to-day activities may involve collaborative system design and development and exploring innovative technologies. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with a team of experienced developers in building robust, high-volume, and high-availability platform systems that drive the Apex ecosystem and modern investment applications forward.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Design and Development: Develop and maintain high-performance, high-throughput services for specific business use-cases.
- Code Quality Assurance: Uphold well-tested code standards and promote high code quality across the team through meticulous code reviews and adherence to best practices.
- Documentation and Training: Ensure proper documentation, guidelines, and best practices for your services. Participate in training sessions to ensure teams understand and follow best practices effectively.
- Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor the performance and reliability of our services, identifying bottlenecks and potential issues and perform on-call support. Assist in the optimization of infrastructure to ensure efficient delivery.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with development teams, system administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment between engineering activities and business goals. Assist in communicating updates, enhancements, and changes to relevant teams. Participate in post-implementation reviews and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Technical Leadership: Offer support and guidance to junior engineers on best practices and procedures. Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of proven experience developing with Java in production environments.
- Demonstrated success designing, building, and deploying complex software systems.
- Expertise with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP (experience with multiple platforms is a plus).
- Proficiency in containerization (Docker) and orchestration technologies (Kubernetes).
- Strong database design and optimization skills (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or similar).
- Experience leading and mentoring software engineers.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
- Experience and/or passion with Financial Markets, Execution Platforms, Foreign Exchange, Cryptocurrency, or Digital Assets (preferred)
