The Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) builds and maintains the automated test infrastructure that validates Genesys Cloud's outbound digital messaging platform — SMS, email, MMS, and WhatsApp campaigns, campaign scheduling and recurrence, digital rules and data actions, and contact list management.
You'll write tests, improve frameworks, and keep CI/CD pipelines healthy across 18+ global production regions. This is a hands-on role where you'll spend most of your time writing code, with opportunities to influence testing practices and mentor teammates.
What you'll do:
Build and maintain automated API and UI tests for outbound digital messaging services using Java and TestNG
Write browser-based UI tests using Playwright for campaign configuration, scheduling, diagnostics, and rules management
Maintain and improve CI/CD test pipelines in Jenkins (Groovy shared libraries, parameterized multi-region jobs)
Contribute to shared test frameworks used across Outbound and other Genesys Cloud teams
Validate messaging campaign behavior across channels — SMS, email, MMS, and WhatsApp — including content templates, contact filtering, DNC lists, attempt limits, and message rate controls
Test campaign scheduling features including recurring schedules, static schedules, timezone-aware delivery, and division-based permissions
Validate digital rule sets, pre/post-contact actions, data action conditions, and rule-based campaign behavior
Support scale testing for high-volume messaging campaigns and campaign aggregation
Triage test failures, distinguish real bugs from flaky tests, and build tooling to reduce noise
Validate services across dev, test, and 18+ production environments worldwide
Participate in design and code reviews with a focus on testability and quality
Investigate production issues alongside development and support teams using logs and observability tools
Identify coverage gaps and automate tests for the highest-risk areas
Help define acceptance criteria for new features
What we're looking for:
5+ years of experience in software testing or test automation
Strong proficiency in Java or other OOP language
Experience building or contributing to test frameworks (TestNG, JUnit, or similar)
Experience with REST API testing
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation (Jenkins preferred)
Comfort working with cloud infrastructure (AWS)
Ability to read and reason about service logs using observability tools (Sumo Logic, New Relic, or similar)
Understanding of service-oriented and microservice architectures
Clear written and verbal communication skills
BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Nice to have:
Experience with Playwright or other modern browser automation tools
Experience with Groovy or Jenkins pipeline scripting
Familiarity with messaging channels and protocols (SMS, email/SMTP, MMS, WhatsApp)
Experience with outbound campaign systems, contact list management, or digital messaging platforms
Experience with scale or load testing
MS in Computer Science or Software Engineering
