Job Description
What you get to do in this role:
- The Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) will be responsible for managing and resolving the most challenging issues for the ServiceNow SRE team focusing on instance performance, reliability, and availability.
- This is a technical role and requires strong troubleshooting skills as well as strong technical skills.
- This is a nightshift role (4 days a week) and must be based anywhere within the Republic of Ireland.
Qualifications
- Degree in computer science/engineering or equivalent
- Minimum of 4 years of IT operations experience
- Experience in leveraging AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving
- Solid Knowledge of ITIL driven IT Operations - Incident, Problem & Change Management
- Experience working well in a team environment while also being able to work productively while unsupervised
- Solid experience of troubleshooting in a highly demanding environment
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot difficult technical issues
- Strong personal commitment to quality and customer service
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate solutions to technical problems
- Excellent time management skills
Required Technical Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of Unix/Linux operating system, including memory management, process management, disk/IO troubleshooting, and network troubleshooting
- Solid understanding of Networking skills, including TCP, IP addressing, routing, HTTP, HTTPS/TLS/SSL, DNS, DHCP, FTP/SFTP
- Understanding of relational databases (e.g., MySQL, Postgres)
- Knowledge of one (or more) scripting languages: JavaScript, Python, Unix Shell
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containerization.
Preferred Qualifications (Good to Have)
- Familiarity with Configuration Management tools like Ansible and Puppet
- knowledge of monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, etc)
- Working knowledge of the components in a web applications stack
- Experience diagnosing performance degradation (e.g. explain plans, database tuning, replication related issues)
- Familiarity with monitoring large and scalable systems, applications, and networks
- Experience with Splunk, Gitlab
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows.
- Certification in cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure).
