As a Senior Risk Management Specialist, you will develop and implement controls to minimize risks, create policies, analyze transactions for fraud risks, evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls, and provide training in risk management strategies. You will work cross-culturally across Latin America and engage with various stakeholders to promote a culture of compliance and risk mitigation.

Overview
As a Senior Risk Management Specialist- Latin America you will develop, recommend and support implementation of controls and cost-effective approaches to minimize the risks, and effects of those risks to Compassion International. In this role your will identify potential sources of loss to minimize risk and estimate the potential financial consequences of an occurring loss as well as effect on reputation, credibility, and ministry effectiveness.
What will you do?
- Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Be a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintaining a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully uphold Compassion’s ministry in prayer.
- Act as an advocate to raise the awareness of the needs of children. Understand Christ’s mandate to protect children. Commit to and prioritizes child protection considerations in all decision-making, tasks and activities across the ministry. Abide by all behavioral expectations in Compassion’s Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct. Report any concerns of abuse, neglect or exploitation of children through Compassion’s internal reporting process and appropriately support responses to incidents if they occur.
- Uphold and engage in Compassion’s core Cultural Behaviors.
- Create policies, procedures and control assessments in response to identified risks; and establish and monitor key risk indicators, as well as implementing corrective action plans to mitigate risks.
- Be responsible for developing, implementing and managing international governance issues such as standard operating procedures, organizational performance metrics, dashboards, and workflows. Identify areas for simplification and/or automation to support the compliance of internal and external requirements.
- Analyze transactions, internal reports and financial information to uncover potential fraud risks.
- Create, quality checks, and/or maintain reports of significant risks and recommendations.
- Research major accidents or substantial losses involving ministry employees, contractors, or operations.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the company's internal control framework, addressing risks and carrying out Compassion’s risk mitigation goals and objectives as well as auditing risk management compliance in field locations.
- Provide training and technical support to management and employees regarding risk management strategies and programs.
- Coach and provide expertise. Oversee the work of other professionals and support staff in the risk management discipline.
What do you bring?
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
- 10+ years of prior experience in risk management, compliance, audit or a related field.
- Experience working cross-culturally across the Latin America region with multiple stakeholders and leaders; strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Certification from a nationally or internationally recognized organization in a related field.
- English language fluency required.
- Ability to travel up to 20% of normal schedule
