The Senior R&D Engineer provides technical leadership for R&D projects in the Medical Device Industry, managing project execution to meet customer needs, developing test methods, and enhancing biomaterials applications. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership to Design Service project teams. Assume reporting responsibilities for members of the project team as delegated by the Design Services Program Manager.
- Manage the planning and execution of R&D projects to meet customer needs.
- Develop test methods and qualification strategies to meet design intent.
- Interact with Customers and Vendors during general activities.
- Identify new equipment, materials and vendors needed to develop Integer Aran’s technical capacity and provide solutions to customers.
- Present and provide weekly updates to senior management on client’s projects.
- Provide technical reports as needed to team members, management, and customers.
- Develop and enhance Integer Aran Biomedical’s unique and innovative Biomaterials application offerings and contribute to enhancing Integer Aran Biomedical’s intellectual property portfolio.
Key Requirements for the Role:
- Third level primary degree, preferably in Mechanical/Biomedical Engineering or Materials/Polymer Science. A Masters or PhD in these areas would be a distinct advantage. Other relevant qualifications will also be considered.
- 5-8 Years commercial experience in an R&D role in the Medical Device Industry.
- Aptitude for analytical problem-solving and the ability to apply creative thinking to solve complex problems.
- Hands-on approach to innovative concept design, & development of novel products and fabrication processes.
- Good working knowledge of engineering design principles coupled with knowledge of polymer material properties and manufacturing processes is particularly desirable.
- Strong initiative and follow-through in executing project responsibilities, overcoming obstacles, and balancing multiple priorities effectively through strong technical and/or project leadership skills.
- Excellent problem solving, decision making, and root cause analysis skills are required.
- The ability to effectively communicate concepts, ideas and knowledge to all levels of the organisation.
- The Senior R&D Engineer is expected to develop and evolve her/his skills to stay abreast of the business and the evolving environment in which the business operates.
