The Senior Project Cost Manager oversees cost management in Digital Technology, ensuring accurate project accounting, financial reporting, and implementing process improvements.
Position Title: Sr. Manager, Project Cost Accounting - Technology
Position Type: Regular - Full-Time
Position Location: Toronto HQ
Requisition ID: 36279
McCain is embarking on a global supply chain planning and S&OP transformation to improve how we plan and operate our business and supply chain. Key challenges with today's processes include a lack of data connectivity, a lack of engagement from all functions, and a significant time requirement to create demand and supply plans.
We are seeking a Senior Manager, Project Cost Accounting - Technology to join our team. Reporting to the Director of Digital Technology Finance, this role will lead three critical areas for the Digital Technology (DT) function: decision analysis, project cost accounting and reporting, and continuous process improvement.
About the Role.
What you'll be doing.
In this role, you'll provide critical financial leadership for our most important Digital Technology investments. You will build and maintain financial models to guide strategic decision-making, develop and implement cost/benefit analyses and business case templates, and train both technology and business teams on their effective use. You'll deliver clear, actionable financial insights-such as cost driver analysis, benefits tracking, and ROI reporting-to ensure every initiative delivers measurable value. From evaluating key investments to tracking Sustainable Cost Advantage (SCA) program outcomes, you'll be at the center of ensuring technology spending drives maximum business impact.
You will also oversee project cost accounting and reporting for major technology initiatives, partnering closely with portfolio managers, project sponsors, vendor management, and delivery teams. This includes building accurate budgets and forecasts, reviewing third-party contracts, managing purchase orders and invoices, and conducting detailed cost analyses across labor, hardware, software, and other expenses. You'll produce high-quality financial reports, highlight variances, recommend corrective actions, and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
Beyond day-to-day operations, you'll drive continuous improvement-reviewing end-to-end processes, identifying inefficiencies, implementing best practices, and uncovering cost optimization opportunities to strengthen Technology Finance and Digital Technology performance.
What you'll need to be successful.
To thrive in this role, you'll need a strong foundation in project cost accounting and decision analysis, paired with sharp financial, analytical, and business problem-solving skills. You should be highly proficient in the Microsoft Office suite, with SAP experience considered an asset. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. A keen eye for detail, strong analytical abilities, and the capability to work both independently and collaboratively will be key. You'll also need to excel under time constraints, manage multiple priorities, and consistently deliver high-quality results aligned with business needs.
The ideal candidate will bring proven expertise in project accounting, a record of driving cost control initiatives, and the ability to balance strategic insight with hands-on execution. This is a high-impact position that requires analytical rigor, process discipline, and strong cross-functional partnership to ensure financial excellence across all Digital Technology projects.
