Senior Product Designer

Kota is making insurance and retirement benefits as accessible as modern software. We do this across the Kota Platform - the world's first fully integrated benefits platform and Kota Embed - our embedded insurance and retirement product for platforms.

We're looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our design team, where you’ll learn about Kota, our products and business.

This is a foundational design leadership role where you'll shape how platforms, businesses and their employees experience insurance and benefits through our embedded UIs and more. You'll work closely with our existing designer and help elevate the entire design function through taste, systems thinking, and design leadership.

As our first senior designer, you'll be expected to drive design strategy, create and enhance our design systems for health and life insurers, and ensure our embedded products deliver exceptional experiences across all integration touchpoints.

• A track record in product design of delivering compelling customer experiences across the whole product experience.

• The foundations to mould a design strategy for our products, making decisions that impact how hundreds of thousands of people access insurance and retirement.

• An ability to think holistically about user experiences to simplify and unify complex, fragmented product experiences into a coherent and trustworthy journey giving users a consistent sense of familiarity and safety across markets.

• Comfort in working at pace and being able to pivot direction based on fresh company strategies and initiatives.

• Proven experience creating, maintaining, and scaling design systems and thinking in ways to create reusable patterns and components across each product.

• A portfolio of design work that demonstrates how you solve customer problems, design systems around complex requirements, and can deliver creative product ideas and solutions to these challenges.

• Well established sync and async communication and presentation skills to align stakeholders across the business, compliance and product teams.

• Embedded financial products.

• Fintech, financial services, insurance, or benefits platforms.

• Developer product experiences, understanding of how to design for technical users and embedded/integration-heavy products.

You'll be joining our design team early and work with existing product designer. Together, you'll form the core of our design function working closely together on design and design reviews.

1. Intro call: A 30-minute 1-on-1 video call. We'll discuss Kota, your background, and your approach to design systems and team leadership.

2. Design deep-dive: A call with our product and existing design team member to review portfolio work in detail, discuss design methodology, and work through a design systems challenge.

3. Culture call with founders: Chat with founders focused on culture and product
