Where we work

Udemy is a global company headquartered in San Francisco, with additional U.S. offices in Denver and Austin, and international hubs in Australia, India, Ireland, Mexico, and Türkiye. This is an in-office position, requiring three days a week in the office (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) and flexibility on Mondays and Fridays.

About your skills:

  • Product/Solution design: You have strong product design skills and can move from concept to prototype easily. You are excellent at coming up with new ideas and sharing them with your team in a sketched out or ‘initial draft’ form - you aren’t afraid of taking early risks with a ‘back of a napkin’ design.
  • Performance and skill measurement: You are proficient in designing ways to evaluate performance and skills that leverage best practices and mitigate typical concerns like rater bias. You write strong items, assessments and are comfortable with algorithmic approaches.
  • Consulting: You have strong consulting and systems thinking skills. You can see beyond the presenting problem, get underneath it, and draft up potential solutions.
  • Influencing: You can influence and develop relationships effectively, up, down, and across the organization. You are capable of scoping a solution and ensuring that people feel heard when providing input and can see themselves and their ideas making an impact.
  • Communication: You have strong presentation and facilitation skills, able to powerfully communicate and interact with senior leaders in front of a room, virtually, in-person and through other vehicles. You are able to draw insights from data to tell a story.

About this role:

  • You will operate as an individual contributor, drawing on skills from across the people team as needed (project-based teaming).
  • You will be working closely with the people partner team in understanding the business needs and maturity and partner with the learning team to design well informed solutions.
  • You will design and develop talent planning and performance product and deliver them through a team of learning and people partners.
  • Reporting to the VP, of Global People Partners and BEDI, you will work together to design the strategy and implementation plan for Talent Planning and Performance Management programs.

What you'll be doing:

Advancing our current approaches to talent planning and performance management.

Performance Management: Lead the development and execution of our performance management and calibration cycle, ensuring alignment and integration with the goal and compensation cycles. Utilize data and analytics to assess cycle performance and efficacy as well as leverage data as an input to the talent planning process.

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive performance management framework that fosters a culture of continuous feedback, employee engagement, listening to drive impact and accountability.
  • Drive the annual performance review process, ensuring alignment with company goals.
  • Implement modern tools and methodologies to improve real-time performance feedback and engagement.

Talent & Succession Planning: Lead the development and execution of our talent and succession planning strategy. Partner with senior leadership to understand current leadership pipelines and identify and communicate gaps. Establish a metrics and reporting system to track the efficacy of interventions.

  • Collaboration & Influence: Work with a variety of stakeholders across the people team, senior leadership and executive staff to gather input and create buy-in for talent planning and performance efforts.

Data & Analytics: Design measurement strategies, collect data and use data analysis approaches to inform process enhancements and/or drive strategic talent decisions.

What you’ll have:

While this work is based more on the skills a person has, than what they have done, we think a typical profile could include the following:

  • 8+ years of progressive HR experience, with experiences focused on designing and delivering performance management and succession planning programs.
  • Experience working within a high-growth, fast-paced organization delivering leadership products and solutions
  • Strong understanding of HR analytics, workforce planning, and BEDI best practices.
  • Proficiency in HRIS, performance management software, and data analytics tools.

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Psychology, or related field (Master’s or HR certification preferred).

We understand that not everyone will match each of the above qualifications. However, we also realize that everyone has unique experiences that can add value to our company. Even if you think your background might not perfectly align, we'd love to hear from you!

Life at Udemy

We aspire to be as vibrant and dynamic as the communities we serve, as inquisitive as those who use our platform, and as revolutionary as the future we strive to open for everyone. Here are some of the things we love about life at Udemy:

  • We’re invested in creating an inclusive environment that welcomes a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences. From creating employee resource groups, ensuring we’re a Fair Pay Workplace, and building a flexible work culture, our belonging, equity, diversity, and inclusion (BEDI) initiatives always put our people first. We want you to be able to bring your authentic self to work because when we all do, we’re better for it.

  • Learning is what we do – inside and out. Our Learning & Development team is second to none, helping ensure your journey is one of continuous progression. You’ll also have unlimited access to Udemy courses, monthly UDays (meeting-free professional development days), and a generous annual professional development stipend.

  • Our reason to exist is to revolutionize learning – that calls for taking risks and learning from failures. Whether it’s our hackathons (a company-wide effort to envision new possibilities for our product) or sharing our prototypes, we see experimentation as a crucial step on the path to success.

  • We’re committed to creating world-class employee experiences and are proud of the recognition of this by Great Place to Work.

Of course, the best thing about being part of Udemy is knowing your work makes a difference for people and organizations around the world. You’ve got the skills; why not use them to help others develop theirs?
