Who we are looking for

A talented Oracle (OCI) database administrator to join the Insurance Database Operations team.  The database team is responsible for the design, administration, and daily operation of critical systems that support our clients’ Production, Disaster Recovery, and Test environments in cloud database environment, with a heavy emphasis on Oracle @ Azure

We are looking for an expert Oracle database engineer in an Azure environment. We would prefer candidates with the combination of Oracle  database performance engineering, T-SQL development, automation, and administration skills where candidate will be responsible for identifying performance bottlenecks and performing query tuning in Oracle.  Candidate must possess strong knowledge of Oracle database internals database design patterns and be able to provide insightful problem solving.

What you will be responsible for

As a Senior Oracle Database Engineer will:

  • Database Administration: Install, upgrade, and patch Oracle databases.

  • Cloud-Specific Tasks: Manage OCI components like Object Storage, Compute Instances, and Virtual Cloud Networks (VCN).

  • Data Replication: Set up and manage Oracle GoldenGate and Data Guard for data replication and high availability.

  • Security and Compliance: Implement encryption (TDE) and manage certificates. Support vulnerability management tools.

  • Performance Optimization: Tune SQL and database performance using OEM for monitoring.

  • Backup and Recovery: Manage RMAN backups and recovery procedures.

  • User Management: Manage database user accounts and privileges.

  • Security: Ensure security configurations, such as DB Vault, are properly implemented.

  • Cloud Migration: Support the migration of databases to and from the cloud.

  • Collaboration: Work with development teams to understand application requirements and integrate them with the database environment.

  • Expert level experience with T-SQL, Powershell.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

•             Bachelor’s degree in computer science (or a related technical field).

•             6-8 years of experience working with large Oracle databases in a 24 x 7 x 365 production environment.

•             3+ years of experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and its services

•             Experience in GoldenGate, Data Guard, and RAC.

•             Familiarity with security best practices and tools.

•             Experience with RMAN for backups and recovery.

•             Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

•             Ability to collaborate with other IT teams.

•             Very good understanding of database encryption, high-availability, disaster recovery, database replication, backup/restore.

•             Must be detailed oriented, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be an aggressive self-starter.

•             A strong sense of customer service, attention to detail, and issue ownership.
