At LearnUpon, we’re seeking a Financial Controller to join our team in Dublin. This is a hybrid role, working 2-3 days per week from LearnUpon's Dublin office.

Reporting to the VP of Finance this role will lead the day-to-day operations of the financial and accounting operations of the company. This is an exciting and challenging role, which will sit within the finance function.

What will I be doing?

  • Oversees the monthly close process and is accountable for achieving our target for days to close
  • Manage finance and accounting operations - Own the global close process and related reporting, including accounts payable, payroll, tax, general ledger, and consolidations
  • Responsible for ensuring accurate and timely tax compliance and filings across various jurisdictions, while maintaining up-to-date knowledge of tax regulations and implementing best practices to minimize risks and optimize tax processes.  Includes responsibility for the R&D Tax Credit programme
  • Responsible for treasury - Manage the worldwide cash flows of the group, including understanding FX exposure and implementing strategies as required
  • Implement improved process regarding vendor management, including ownership of the procurement process
  • Leverage technology to build scalable/sustainable processes to create efficiencies, and streamline accounting operations
  • Benchmark and coordinate with industry peers on standard methodologies related to accounting, systems, policies, and processes
  • Accountable for overseeing the audit process and ensuring full compliance with all financial and tax regulations
  • Participate in key strategic initiatives and assist with other ad hoc projects

What skills do I need?                                                                               

  • Qualified Accountant (ACCA\ACA) with experience experience managing teams working in fast growing finance/accounting leadership role, preferably in SAAS
  • Strong understanding of Irish GAAP and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) to ensure compliance and accurate financial reporting
  • Familiarity with tax compliance, filings, and local regulatory requirements to ensure proper financial oversight and risk management
  • Solid experience in business operations and ability to set up systems and processes to ensure effective internal controls and accounting procedures
  • Strong exposure to multiple entity consolidation and reporting
  • Results orientated with a keen focus on agility, and capable of pivoting based on changing business needs, while keeping your team in a steady state
  • Passion for managing and developing teams

Not required but considered a plus

  • Experience with Netsuite 
  • Experience setting up entities in other jurisdictions
  • Exposure to level finance functions such a Treasury, Tax and M&A
  • Pre-IPO SaaS experience

  • Successful candidates will then be invited to a series of practical interviews, including a task
  • Finally, candidates will have a short interview with our CFO
