Senior Manager of Data Science, Emerging Products

The Emerging Products data science team partners across a set of nimble, cross functional teams exploring bold bets in Bitcoin, TIDAL, and internal AI tooling - contributing to both product incubation and the advancement of emerging technologies across Block.
The team's scope spans three strategically critical areas:

• Bitcoin Products focused on mainstreaming bitcoin as everyday money
• TIDAL and creator monetization tools for independent artists
• Goose, our suite of internal AI-driven tools powering product velocity across Block

We are looking for a technical and highly strategic Data Science leader to lead the data function across these domains - enabling rapid learning, rigorous decision making, and strong product-market alignment in a fast-paced, experimental environment.
The Role
As the Data Science lead for Emerging Products, you will lead a team of experienced data scientists and analysts working across diverse, early-stage product areas. You will play a central role in shaping the direction and success of key Block initiatives - from making bitcoin everyday money , to helping independent artists generate income through TIDAL, to accelerating internal innovation via applied AI.
This role requires a builder's mindset and strong product intuition. You will collaborate closely with senior leaders in Product, Engineering, and Design to define strategy, measure impact, and unlock insights that drive product development. You'll bring technical depth across data disciplines and a passion for guiding teams through ambiguity. Experience in consumer products and familiarity with crypto technologies is highly preferred.

You Will

• Lead and develop a team of data scientists and analysts working across Bitcoin, TIDAL, and internal AI products.
• Shape product strategy through data-informed insights, experimentation, and modeling - ranging from monetization analytics to machine learning for personalization.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior Product, Engineering, and Design partners - translating data into compelling narratives and actionable decisions and executing on initiatives with company-wide impact.
• Guide technical approaches across analytics, data engineering, business intelligence, A/B testing/causal inference, and ML. Provide strong mentorship to elevate the team's capabilities.
• Partner cross-functionally with business leads across Block (TIDAL, Bitkey, Cash App, Square, and more) to define, measure, and accelerate growth. Bring rigor and clarity to complex, ambiguous problem spaces with a bias toward experimentation and iteration.

You Have

• 12+ years of data science experience, including 5+ years managing data scientists and analysts, preferably in consumer-facing product or emerging technology environments.
• Proven success in leading data workstreams for early stage or 0-to-1 products.
• Experience working closely with product, engineering, and design teams to launch user-facing features and drive business impact.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL; familiarity with data pipelines, dashboarding tools, and experimentation frameworks.
• Deep understanding of data foundations, hypothesis testing, and applied machine learning techniques.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to drive alignment through clear, data-driven storytelling.
• A strong interest in emerging technologies and innovation-experience with bitcoin products focused on making bitcoin everyday money through initiatives like:
  • stablecoin infrastructure and interoperability
  • lightning network adoption and ux improvements
  • bitcoin banking and payment rails innovation
