We are continuously growing and we are looking for a Senior Linux System Engineer to join our UniQue CIET team, part of our Professional Services Department.
This role requires a proactive individual who can troubleshoot and resolve issues, automate routine tasks, and implement security best practices. You will collaborate with other IT professionals, developers, and stakeholders to deliver reliable and scalable solutions. Key duties include monitoring system performance, applying patches and updates, managing user accounts and permissions, and maintaining backup and disaster recovery procedures.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of networking concepts, scripting languages, and cloud environments. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced innovative environment and be able to prioritize tasks effectively. Excellent communication skills and a commitment to continuous learning are essential.
Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes or tools like Ansible, Puppet is a plus.
For the Senior Linux System Engineer role we expect you to:
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers in a virtualized or bare metal environment.
- Perform system monitoring, performance tuning, verifying the integrity and availability of systems, and troubleshoot issues.
- Review system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
- Apply OS and security patches and upgrades on a regular basis.
- Automate routine tasks using scripting languages and configure/add new services as necessary
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls
- Document system configurations and procedures
- Ensure system security and compliance with policies through the implementation of best-practice policies and procedures.
- Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions
- Collaborate with IT and development teams on projects
Your experience, skillset and qualifications are going to help you succeed in this position, moving forward.
- A University/College Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of proven hands-on experience as a Linux System Administrator
- Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems (e.g., Red Hat , Ubuntu, AlmaLinux)
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Bash or Python in order to create and manage scripts to perform system tasks
- Experience with virtualization platforms (Experience on Cloud platforms is a plus)
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
- Experience with automation software (e.g. Ansible) is a plus.
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
- Solid understanding of networking protocols and services (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, LDAP, etc.).
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Effective problem solving skills
- Collaborative attitude with both internal and external business stakeholders
- Certifications in Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) are desirable.
