Job DescriptionAlternative Investments Associates and Accountants work as part of a team responsible for providing accounting, administration and investor servicing for hedge funds, private equity funds and closed-end registered products.
Key accountabilities:
Individuals calculate net asset value(s) and disseminate financial and performance information to the investment advisor and their investors.
Acting as primary fund accountant on multiple funds and/or client relationships, ensures all fund accounting functions are in completed in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Records trade information, income/expense activity and applies valuation of securities in the portfolio accounting system. Reconciliation of bank activity.
Enters and reconciles all investor contributions and withdrawals in the partnership accounting system and prepares capital call, distribution notices and partner capital statements.
Allocates fund level profits to individual investors for preparation and distribution of partner capital statements.
Reviews and coordinates fund expense analysis and expense processing.
Prepares fund quarterly financial packages, audit and tax schedules.
Skills & experience required:
18 months to 3 years of relevant experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Basic knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Ability to identify and resolve/escalate complex problems with minimal guidance
Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects and deadlines simultaneously
Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Proficient computer navigation skills using a variety of software packages including Microsoft Office applications
Experience of bank debt and private investment types beneficial
Additional information:
The role offers a hybrid / flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.
