About your role:
As Senior Full Stack Developer at Bord Gáis Energy you will build fully-fledged platforms using a range of different technologies. You will be involved in the entire product development lifecycle including the design, development, deployment and maintenance of new and existing features. You will write clean and functional code on the front- and back-end. You will collaborate closely with our outsourced development team to ensure system consistency and to create a great user experience. You will write reusable and maintainable code. You will also perform UI tests to optimise performance. Ultimately, your work will have direct impact on the stability and user experience of our products.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for leading, prioritising and managing own workload and team members as required
- Responsible for ensuring agreed delivery budgets and timescales are adhered to
- Supports the assessment of system requirements, identifying and addressing any potential issues prior to implementation
- Undertakes development work ensuring design principles are adhered to and components are refactored wherever possible
- Completes development deliverables in a timely manner and to the appropriate level of quality so that the delivered solutions are fit-for purpose, can be efficiently supported and the impact of future change requests can be assessed
- Ensures peer reviews and unit tests are prepared and conducted across the entire team
- Advises on the creation and execution of test scripts in other testing phases, as required
- Responsible for provision of effort estimates required to develop software
- Creates and updates application documentation
- Follows all change control procedures and puts in place full version control and configuration management to ensure that the production service is not compromised
- Follows the procedures for reporting on the progress of systems development projects, taking action to deal with exceptions, problems and unforeseen events in a timely manner, escalating as appropriate
- Contributes to retrospectives to incorporate learnings into future work
- Maintains an understanding of relevant industry trends and current knowledge of the technology deployed in the business area
Here's what we’re looking for:
- You have 7+ years of programming experience
- You are comfortable working with both front- and back-end languages.
- You have knowledge of multiple languages (like C#, Java, Python, Visual Basic) and JavaScript frameworks (like Angular, React, and Vue).
- You are familiar with databases (like MS SQL Server, MySQL and Oracle)
- You have experience in webservices, ASP.NET, HTML and UI/UX design.
- You have experience with Data services and reporting (like SSIS, Azure Data Factory, SSRS and Power BI)
- You have experience in testing and debugging.
- You have an eye for layout aesthetics.
- You are analytical and good at time management.
- You have previous experience in Gas and Electricity Industry
- You have great communication and problem-solving skills.
- You are curious about new technologies and you're excited to find ways to implement them in your work.
- You have experience with leading, coaching and mentoring other developers.
- You can oversee and drive projects forward.
- You can skilfully write high quality, well-tested code
- You have experience working in cloud technologies such as AWS and Azure
- You can provide accurate estimates and timescales using Application Design and Development processes, templates and tools and deliver developments against agreed estimates
