Job Description

The Senior Finance Business Partner supporting Payments, will act as a strategic advisor to business leaders, providing financial insight, performance analysis, and decision support to drive growth, profitability, and operational excellence across the Payments business. The role combines strong financial expertise with commercial acumen and stakeholder management to influence business strategy and outcomes. Will act as a bridge between the finance department and other business units, helping to ensure that financial considerations are integrated into business planning and operations.

Expected to move beyond traditional reporting activities and serve as a proactive commercial advisor, challenging assumptions, identifying opportunities, and helping leadership teams make informed decisions that enhance growth, profitability, and shareholder value. The role often operates with significant autonomy and regularly engages with senior business and finance leadership.

Key accountabilities:

  • Partner with Payments business leaders to support strategic planning, investment decisions, and execution of growth initiatives.

  • Lead forecasting, budgeting, and long-range planning processes for the Payments business.

  • Deliver timely financial analysis and insights on revenue, transaction volumes, yield, profitability, and key business drivers.

  • Monitor performance against financial targets, identifying risks, opportunities, and actions required to achieve objectives.

  • Develop business cases for new products, partnerships, pricing initiatives, and market expansion opportunities.

  • Provide financial leadership for commercial negotiations, contract reviews, and customer profitability assessments.

  • Support month-end and quarter-end performance reviews, ensuring clear communication of results to senior management.

  • Drive continuous improvement in reporting, automation, and business intelligence tools to enhance decision-making.

  • Collaborate closely with Product, Sales, Operations, Risk, Technology, and Finance teams to ensure alignment on business priorities.

  • Ensure financial governance, controls, and compliance with corporate policies and regulatory requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience

  • Typically 5+ years of related experience

Preferred skills/experience:

  • Strong background in FP&A, commercial finance, or finance business partnering.

  • Good understanding of payment processing, acquiring, merchant services, card payments, fintech, or broader payments ecosystems.

  • Advanced financial modelling, forecasting, and analytical capabilities.

  • Ability to translate complex data into clear business insights and recommendations.

  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with experience engaging senior executives.

  • Proven track record of driving business performance and supporting strategic decision-making.

  • Experience with BI tools, data analytics, and finance systems preferred.

Additional information

  • The role offers a hybrid / flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.
