What’s the Opportunity? 

We’re hiring a Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Data Foundations and Interop. You’ll be directly responsible for the performance, development, and outcomes of a high-impact team building our next generation of APIs, foundational data models, and systems that underpin integration across our product suite.

This role reports directly to the VP of Engineering, with clear scope to influence across the company, partnering with cross-functionally with Product, GTM, and R&D, and shape our platform strategy with real business impact.

This role is based in our Dublin office. Remote is not an option, though relocation support is available.


What Will I Be Doing? 
  • Own the strategy and execution of Intercom’s core data foundations and public APIs in partnership with product and design.
  • Lead a team of 9+ engineers to ship high-quality work at pace — with a focus on business value, not just velocity.
  • Collaborate with GTM partners to align platform investments with customer and market needs.
  • Champion technical excellence, improving system design, standards, and performance across the engineering org.
  • Drive planning, prioritization, and delivery of high-impact initiatives from inception through execution.
  • Coach and develop engineers and team leads, creating an environment where people thrive and grow.
  • Help shape Intercom’s broader engineering leadership culture, aligning with our evolving manager expectations and an AI first world.

What Skills Do I Need? 

We’re looking for experienced, high-agency leaders who thrive in fast-moving environments. You should bring:

  • A track record of leading high-performing engineering teams with clear outcomes and impact.
  • Deep experience with modern APIs, data architecture, and platform design at a SaaS company.
  • The ability to set strategy, influence roadmaps, and make smart tradeoffs in ambiguous situations.
  • Comfort getting into technical detail and making architecture and system design decisions.
  • Experience navigating complex orgs — ideally working across Product, Engineering, and GTM.
  • Strong people leadership skills: hands-on, high energy, and not afraid to set a high bar.
  • A persistent bias for execution — you get things done, not just talked about.
  • A growth mindset and ability to adapt as the team and business evolve.
