The Opportunity
As the Senior Data Scientist at Kargo, you will play a pivotal role in driving the strategic direction of our adtech company's mission-critical auction based models. You will be a part of a cutting edge adtech auction optimization team to support our integrations with DSP and internal auction mechanisms to deliver the highest outcomes possible for our clients across industry verticals. You’ll drive alongside other data scientists and machine learning experts to deploy, test, and experiment with models. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, industry knowledge, and strategic thinking to enhance our modeling infrastructure and address the unique challenges of Kargo's clients.
What You’ll Do
- Dig into Kargo’s unique product challenges and go beyond generic, out-of-the-box algorithms to think critically and creatively about Kargo’s business problems and product needs.
- Participate in the full software development cycle: design, develop, QA, deploy, experiment, and analyze.
- Collaborate across disciplines to find technical solutions to complex challenges and share results with non-technical audiences.
- Write production-level code to perform experiments, prototype new data products, and apply machine learning algorithms to very large datasets.
Who You Are
- A quantitative problem-solver with strong storytelling skills, capable of interpreting and visualizing data in a business context, ideally with an advanced degree in a STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) field. Applied Mathematics or Statistics is preferred.
- A strategic thinker with a deep interest in advertising, media, analytics, and/or marketing.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple tasks at once.
- A strong communicator, adept at engaging both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Naturally curious, resourceful, and motivated.
- Experienced in working with relational databases (SQL required).
- Proficient in R, Python, or Scala.
- Skilled in research and experimental design, with experience in optimization techniques.
- Knowledgeable in machine learning algorithms and familiar with one or more popular packages (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, SciPy).
- Experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras for building neural networks.
- Comfortable with learning and deploying new techniques, ranging from optimization and predictive modeling to graph theory and causal inference.
- Nice to have: Experience with cloud computing (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and the ability to scale data science solutions for very large datasets. Familiarity with MLflow or TensorFlow Serving for deploying and monitoring machine learning models.
