Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Business Intelligence Developer / Data Engineer to join our European Business Intelligence Team. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with deep expertise in SQL database development, enterprise data architecture, and business intelligence. The candidate will play a lead role in designing and implementing modern data solutions, mentoring BI developers, and driving best practices within a global BI team.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and implementation of scalable, high-performance data solutions for business intelligence and analytics.
Drive SQL database development efforts, ensuring efficient, high-quality code and optimal performance.
Promote and implement software development best practices, including coding standards, source code control, and code reviews within the BI team.
Mentor and lead BI developers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
Design and maintain enterprise data models and reporting solutions, optimized for performance and usability.
Develop and manage data pipelines to ingest and transform data from diverse sources.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into robust data architecture and reporting solutions.
Champion the adoption of modern data platform capabilities and tools across the BI ecosystem.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior developers and analysts.
Experience in the card payment industry would be beneficial.
Required Qualifications
8+ years of experience in data architecture, BI development, or data engineering roles.
Extensive experience in SQL Database development, including writing efficient SQL, performance tuning, and database design.
Strong proficiency in T-SQL, data modeling, and data warehouse design (star/snowflake schemas).
Advanced experience with Power BI, including semantic model design, DAX, Power Query, and deployment pipelines.
Hands-on experience with modern data platforms and tools.(Azure/Fabric , AWS/RDS/Snowflake)
Solid understanding of data governance, security, and compliance in enterprise environments.
Demonstrated ability to mentor and lead BI developers, driving adoption of best practices.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Fluent in English (written and spoken).
Preferred Skills
Experience in financial services, particularly payments or banking, with a focus on card payment systems is highly desirable.
Familiarity with CI/CD for BI, including DevOps pipelines for BI solutions.
Exposure to big data processing and modern data platforms.
Experience working in matrixed organizations and cross-functional teams.
Location expectations
This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.
