Senior Business Intelligence Developer / Data Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Business Intelligence Developer / Data Engineer to join our European Business Intelligence Team. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with deep expertise in SQL database development, enterprise data architecture, and business intelligence. The candidate will play a lead role in designing and implementing modern data solutions, mentoring BI developers, and driving best practices within a global BI team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of scalable, high-performance data solutions for business intelligence and analytics.

  • Drive SQL database development efforts, ensuring efficient, high-quality code and optimal performance.

  • Promote and implement software development best practices, including coding standards, source code control, and code reviews within the BI team.

  • Mentor and lead BI developers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.

  • Design and maintain enterprise data models and reporting solutions, optimized for performance and usability.

  • Develop and manage data pipelines to ingest and transform data from diverse sources.

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into robust data architecture and reporting solutions.

  • Champion the adoption of modern data platform capabilities and tools across the BI ecosystem.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior developers and analysts.

  • Experience in the card payment industry would be beneficial.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in data architecture, BI development, or data engineering roles.

  • Extensive experience in SQL Database development, including writing efficient SQL, performance tuning, and database design.

  • Strong proficiency in T-SQL, data modeling, and data warehouse design (star/snowflake schemas).

  • Advanced experience with Power BI, including semantic model design, DAX, Power Query, and deployment pipelines.

  • Hands-on experience with modern data platforms and tools.(Azure/Fabric , AWS/RDS/Snowflake)

  • Solid understanding of data governance, security, and compliance in enterprise environments.

  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and lead BI developers, driving adoption of best practices.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in financial services, particularly payments or banking, with a focus on card payment systems is highly desirable.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD for BI, including DevOps pipelines for BI solutions.

  • Exposure to big data processing and modern data platforms.

  • Experience working in matrixed organizations and cross-functional teams.

Location expectations 

This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.
