Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our growing data engineering team. This role will focus on front-end data modeling, query performance tuning, and optimizing data access patterns on the Snowflake platform. You'll play a key role in designing efficient, scalable data structures that enable analytics, dashboards, and data science use cases across the organization.
You'll collaborate closely with data analysts, product managers, and data engineers to deliver high-performance data models that power business-critical insights and product telemetry analytics.
What You'll Do

• Design, build, and maintain optimized data models for analytics and reporting use cases in Snowflake for AI and Value Projects
• Partner with data consumers to translate business needs into performant SQL transformations and reusable datasets.
• Conduct query performance tuning, warehouse optimization, and data partitioning to improve speed and efficiency.
• Develop and automate data quality checks to ensure accuracy, completeness, and reliability.
• Collaborate with backend engineers on ingestion and transformation pipelines, ensuring smooth handoffs between ingestion and modeling layers.
• Contribute to best practices for data governance, documentation, and code reviews within the data engineering organization.
• Write clean, modular, and testable SQL and Python code to support data workflows and automation.

Qualifications
To be successful in this role you have:

• Experience in leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving. This may include using AI-powered tools, automating workflows, analyzing AI-driven insights, or exploring AI's potential impact on the function or industry.
• 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar role.
• Strong proficiency in SQL (complex queries, performance tuning, window functions).
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake (warehouse management, query profiling, caching strategies).
• Proficiency in Python for scripting, automation, and data manipulation.
• Experience working with BI or analytics teams to design and maintain data models for dashboards or self-service analytics.
• Solid understanding of ETL/ELT best practices, including orchestration tools such as Airflow or Jenkins.
• Familiarity with version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical audiences.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Matillion, DBT, or other ELT frameworks.
• Exposure to data observability tools or performance monitoring frameworks.
• Understanding of usage telemetry, application logging, or customer behavior analytics.
