Job Summary:

This role of the Senior Data Analyst is part of a high-performing data and analytics team responsible for defining and developing metrics, data models and intelligent reporting frameworks. With a focus on Finance, the data analyst will will create compelling visualizations, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and build custom reporting solutions for treasury stakeholders. They will also automate tasks to improve processes and maintain comprehensive documentation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Build and continuously improve data models, data quality and data enrichment frameworks and reporting solutions.
  • Create compelling visualizations to surface aberrations, highlight areas of focus to ensure quality and ultimately to help stakeholders understand complex information and make informed decisions.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor the effectiveness of treasury and identify areas for improvement.
  • Build custom reporting solutions for funding administration and other treasury processes which includes but is not limited to: requirement gathering, write-up of scoping documents, creating/testing of report outputs, and delivery to the end-user.
  • Develop and maintain suite of standard/custom reports used internally and externally, adhering to Element’s reporting brand and value.
  • Identify, refine, and improve processes through automation of tasks and develop best practices that increase team efficiency and improve stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of data processes, methodologies, and tools used, ensuring clarity and consistency for future reference and training purposes.
  • Balance short term and long term needs to ensure that the data architecture can scale and evolve accordingly.

Key Interactions:

  • Collaborate across Element (Accounting, Commercial, IT, Operations, Finance, Tax and Treasury) to identify reliable data sources and recommend optimal methods of accessing data while protecting the integrity of source data.
  • Notify data owners of data quality issues and track remediation of issues via continuous collaboration.
  • Share discoveries of redundant data with other stakeholders with the intent of narrowing toward the best sources of truthful/reliable data.
  • Data and Technical Consulting Team in IT in NA to drive the execution of the designed reporting, dashboards, and desired data model strategy.

Qualifications, Education, and Experience:

Basic Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree/post-secondary diploma is a requirement.
  • Degree/Diploma in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Expertise with Alteryx or comparable application is required.
  • Advanced coding skills required in languages e.g. Python, R, SQL , Power Query, DAX.
  • Proficiency using Snowflake and familiarity with relational databases.
  • Very strong MS Office Products proficiency required.
  • 6 to 10 years related work experience in reporting, analytics and data analysis.

Desired Characteristics

  • Working knowledge in data visualization tools (advanced knowledge of Power BI is an asset).
  • Foundational knowledge and interest in AI and machine learning techniques to enhance data analysis and predictive modeling.
  • Ability to effectively interact at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work individually in a fast-paced environment and work well within a team with a focus on results, accuracy, and delivery.
