We seek a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and evolution of our cloud environment through standardised, automated, and secure patterns. You will own complex infrastructure initiatives, mentor engineers, and drive best practices across our engineering teams and multiple cloud providers.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the design and implementation of scalable, enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure patterns (e.g., reusable Terraform module).
  • Own and optimise deployment automation using Octopus Deploy and Azure DevOps for infrastructure and application releases.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) libraries to ensure consistent, compliant, and scalable environments across multiple cloud providers. Primary focus on Azure with secondary AWS experience
  • Partner with and advise scrum teams and TechOps teams to prioritise and implement infrastructure solutions early in the development lifecycle.
  • Own and enforce cloud governance policies, security standards, and architectural best practices across multiple cloud providers.
  • Lead the evaluation of new technologies and approaches to improve platform capabilities to support operational resilience, performance optimisation, and cost efficiency.
  • Document infrastructure blueprints, standard operating procedures, and reusable patterns to empower team self-service and accelerate delivery.
  • Lead incident troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and post-incident reviews to drive systemic improvements and platform reliability.
  • Lead cloud governance reviews, security audits, and compliance initiatives.
  • Act as a senior technical advisor, subject matter expert, and advocate for best practices across engineering, operations, and product teams.
  • Participate in architecture reviews and provide infrastructure input during solution design
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers on IaC best practices, cloud patterns, and operational excellence

 

Essential Knowledge / Experience:

  • Five plus years of experience as a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, Cloud Platform Engineer, or similar role.
  • Extensive experience designing, implementing, and operating production-grade infrastructure in Azure & AWS.
  • Deep expertise with IaC using Terraform, including module development, state management, and multi-environment patterns
  • Advanced experience with Octopus Deploy and Azure DevOps, including pipeline architecture and optimisation to support infrastructure and software deployment pipelines.
  • Strong Windows OS management skills in cloud environments; Familiarity with Linux fundamentals required; deep experience a plus.
  • Proficient in scripting languages like PowerShell, with experience automating complex operational workflows with experience automating operational workflows.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security principles... with experience implementing controls at scale, identity and access management (IAM), and network security practices.
  • Experience using Azure DevOps to manage technical deliverables, track work, and collaborate with product and engineering teams.
  • Deep understanding of application architectures... with ability to advise development teams on infrastructure-aligned design and CI/CD workflows to ensure tight alignment with infrastructure services.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to explain technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive adoption of best practices without direct authority
  • Proven ability to lead technical initiatives from concept through production
  • Experience mentoring engineers and driving adoption of technical standards
  • Track record of delivering improvements in operational reliability, cost efficiency, or delivery velocity
