Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Business Control Manager with international experience across diverse financial roles to lead the cost management side for our global operations. This role involves managing a team of six cost controllers, maintaining dotted-line oversight of additional controllers worldwide, who collectively support all the managers of the Evolution Group.

This role is part of the global business control team that is also responsible for Revenue Control, M&A Group Reporting, and you will report directly to the Head of Business Control.

In addition to overseeing the cost management for the entire Group, this role offers a great opportunity to lead a global team, implement meaningful organizational changes, and partner closely with senior leadership to shape the financial strategy and future of the organization.

The role is based at our Malta Spinola office and requires occasional travel to other locations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage directly a team of six cost controllers with dotted line relationship with other controllers across the globe, fostering a high-performance culture through training, development, and coaching.
  • Oversee financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting of expenditure, ensuring business managers remain aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Use own initiative to constantly identify and implement changes to improve cost control processes, drive efficiency gains and other development areas within the organization and the direct teams.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to management on cost-related matters, providing insights and recommendations to support decision-making.
  • Be able to explain complex cost variances in a way that can be understood by the target audience.
  • Support cross-functional collaboration by assisting other sections of the finance team and other departments with financial expertise.

Qualifications

  • Higher academic or professional education relevant to the job
  • Broad exposure to various finance roles with international experience in organisations with a track record of success in cost management, financial analysis, budgeting and reporting (experience in gaming or tech industries is a merit)
  • Proven team leadership experience, including managing diverse teams and implementing organizational change.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to coach and coordinate with stakeholders across multiple regions and levels of seniority.
  • Highly analytical with an ability to adapt communication style effectively.
  • Can work in a fast-paced environment and respond and re-prioritize quickly when required.
  • Possess a high level of curiosity with solutions-oriented and problem-solving mindset.
  • Excellent knowledge of data modelling, MS Excel, accounting systems and use of Power BI or similar data visualization tools.
