Senior Backend/Full Stack Software Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

As a Senior Backend/Full Stack Software Engineer, you will work with the team to take technical ownership for the design and implementation of high-level feature requests which often span multiple components within the platform infrastructure. We have a mix of front-, backend- and full stack developers on our team – our ideal candidate would have full stack capabilities but this specific role is backend focused and is suitable for talented engineers with a preference for backend development. Core responsibilities of the role include:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and high-performance applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
• Optimize the stack and applications for maximum speed and scalability.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems.
• Implement automated testing platforms and unit tests.
• Discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency.
• Participate in code reviews to maintain quality and provide feedback.
• Engage in SRE practices and with our DevOps team to manage our AWS deployment environment
• Work within an Agile development framework to deliver high-quality software solutions.

Essential Requirements:

• 5+ years of professional experience in full stack development.
• At least 3 years professional experience of Backend development using TypeScript & JavaScript on NestJS or NodeJS frameworks. 
• Experience working with graph databases like Neo4J and query technologies like Graph QL
• Strong understanding of web development principles, including RESTful API design.
• Experience with DevOps platforms like GitLab for code management and CI/CD pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services.
• Strong knowledge of containerization technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture and deployment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills. Cultural fit is important to us – you must demonstrate a willingness to collaborate, to take responsibility and to be self-motivated.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies.

Desirable:

• Interest and experience in DevSecOps implementation & security best practices
• Experience with implementing observability tools like OpenTelemetry & Grafana
• Experience with additional AWS services such as EKS, RDS, S3, Elasticache , AWS Glue etc.
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Experience with IoT technologies and protocols and specifically with MQTT messaging protocol.
• Experience with relevant technologies such as InfluxDB, Python, MySQL, Redis & Vue an advantage

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent.

Location: Limerick, Ireland (Hybrid/Remote). 

Candidate must have the necessary authorisation to work in the Republic of Ireland.
