Senior Backend Engineer (PHP, Symfony) – Fluix Team

About the role:

We are looking for a Senior Back-end Product Engineer who takes real end-to-end ownership: from understanding the customer problem and designing the solution, to shipping it, running it in production, and improving it. This is a role for an engineer who works autonomously, thinks in product outcomes rather than tickets, and uses AI as a daily part of the craft. 

You’ll work on the core backend systems behind Fluix – from workflow automation and offline mobile synchronization to document processing, e-signatures, and integrations with enterprise platforms. You’ll build new capabilities while also evolving and improving a mature product used by real customers every day.

What you will do:

• Own features end-to-end — from understanding the problem and designing the solution to production release and further improvements.
• Design backend services, APIs, and data models with scalability, reliability, and maintainability in mind.
• Scope and decompose your own work, make architectural decisions, and present your solutions to the team.
• Challenge requirements and technical approaches when you see a better, simpler, or more efficient solution.
• Build new functionality while refactoring and improving the existing codebase, including test coverage.
• Use data, logs, and customer feedback to investigate problems and make product and technical decisions.
• Use AI tools daily for development, refactoring, code review, testing, documentation, and investigation, and help improve AI practices across the team.
• Improve the development lifecycle by automating repetitive work and strengthening observability, alerting, and release processes.
• Participate in shared on-call and support rotations: investigate production incidents and customer-reported issues, identify root causes, and implement long-term solutions.
• Prepare release plans and manage deployments.
• Collaborate closely with Backend, Frontend, iOS, Android, Support, and other teams to deliver reliable product experiences.
• Continuously improve engineering practices, propose your own initiatives, and share knowledge with the team

About you:

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience, with experience owning complex features or services end-to-end — from solution design to production.
• Strong proficiency in PHP and Symfony, with solid knowledge of system and API design, design patterns, clean code practices, and DDD.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, SQS, Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS, IAM), plus familiarity with Kubernetes and serverless architectures.
• Strong debugging and profiling skills (Xdebug, Blackfire), with experience in CI/CD, automated testing, and observability.
• Familiarity with JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, and frameworks such as ExpressJS or NestJS.
• You systematically use AI as part of your daily development workflow and can explain what you use it for, what you delegate to it, and how you validate the output. Experience delivering AI/LLM-powered product features is a plus.
• Good understanding of application security and OWASP principles; experience working with ISO 27001, SOC 2, or similar security standards is a plus.
• You are autonomous and product-minded: comfortable starting with a problem, designing a solution, making technical decisions, and driving it through to production.
