Please note this role can be based either in Sligo, Galway or Cherrywood Dublin.

Purpose of Role 

The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the CFS Finance Manager with a range of accounting, financial analysis, internal control and administration activities along with other statutory reporting requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete month end accounting activities (e.g. journal entries, reconciliations)  for in scope entities.
  • Financial analysis and reporting for in scope entities, including preparation of financial packs for quarterly board meetings.
  • Support delivery of statutory accounts aligned with corporate, country/legal entity timelines.
  • Build relationships and interact with key stakeholders to provide support, technical expertise and accounting guidance.
  • Liaise with Internal and External Auditors as required.
  • Ensure that the internal control environment for in scope entities is operating as intended and that any improvements are implemented in a timely fashion.
  • Responsible for ensuring quality and on time completion for month end activities (journals, account recs) and performance reporting for entities in scope.
  • Support the team’s efforts on continuous improvement, and liaise with CFS EMEA hub to ensure end to end process improvement opportunities are identified and implemented
  • Develop and improve processes and systems as required to ensure more efficient delivery of value-add information to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the CFS Ireland team to perform ad hoc and other special projects assignments, as required.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Qualified Accountant – ACA, ACCA, CIMA
  • BS degree in Accounting or Finance desirable
  • 3+ years relevant experience in a complex global environment – preferably within a multi-currency, US GAAP based financial close environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential
  • SAP or other major ERP Systems experience is desirable
  • Internal controls / Internal audit experience within a multi-national environment desirable
  • Hands-on and self-starter mentality
  • Able to manage responsibilities independently
  • Excellent financial analysis skills with ability to summarise data into high quality deliverables.
  • Strong computer skills especially MS Office & Power BI.

Minimum language skills

  • Fluent in English essential
