Overview:

Sentara Health is currently seeking a full-time remote - Referral Coordinator!

Must be available to start on 11/10/2025.

Position Status: Full-time, permanent (40 hours/week)

​Standard Working Hours: Must be able to work between the hours of 8:00AM to 4:30PM

Position Location: This is a remote position and you must be located near either Sentara Careplex Hospital (Hampton, VA) or Sentara Crossways (Chesapeake, VA). You must be able to travel on-site for training, for connectivity issues, or as needed for meetings, etc.

Job responsibilities:

  • Provides a direct link between patients, primary care providers, specialty providers, and insurance companies.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent REQUIRED

Certification/Licensure:

  • No specific certification or licensure requirements

Experience:

  • Health Insurance Plans experience REQUIRED

  • Experience in a high volume call center preferred

  • Medical terminology preferred.

  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and third party payers.

  • One year of experience with insurance verification/referral processing preferred.

  • Knowledge of EPIC preferred.

  • Proficient in use of computers and excellent organizational skills.
