As a QA Lead, you will play a critical leadership role in defining, executing, and evolving the test strategy within our customer's environment. This role combines overall QA responsibility across multiple projects with management of assigned QA Engineers, designing robust test plans and test strategies, establishing cross-team best-practice standards and ways of working, and enabling both mobile and web testing at scale. You'll bring a passion for a quality-first culture, lead by example and mentor others. To succeed, you will need to be an innovative, energetic, enthusiastic self-starter.
Please note this role operates in a hybrid model with candidates expected to be able and willing to work from our customer's Dublin office at least once per week.
Required skills:
- 8+ years in QA engineering, with at least 3 years in a lead-level role
- Excellent understanding of QA engineering best practices, methodologies and processes
- Experience using JIRA and Zephyr (or similar)
- Experience working in an Agile SCRUM development environment
- In-depth knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps integration
- Experience working in Agile environments and contributing to broader engineering strategy
- Skilled in test reporting, defect analytics and metrics-led improvement
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Key responsibilities & duties include:
Test Planning, Execution & Leadership- Work with relevant teams to determine and plan test coverage based on requirements
- Define the data sets and combinations needed to demonstrate success
- Coordinate testing across Dev, Test, E2E, Pre-Prod and post-go live testing
- Define and manage appropriate Quality Gates for internal and external teams
- Run and manage defect triage across multiple technical and business teams
- Liaise with 3rd party suppliers on deliverables and defect resolutions
- Provide real-time progress metrics, identify challenges and support decision making
- Champion a healthy balance between automation and manual testing, ensuring that manual efforts are focused on high-value, high-complexity aspects, with automation coverage as high as possible
- Lead by example, supporting teams in achieving their sprint goals and deadlines
- Provide mentorship to engineers across onshore and offshore teams
- Embed test quality into the SDLC through strong collaboration with DevOps, Product, and Engineering
- Understand the value of the latest technologies in test automation and identify areas where they can be best used (Playwright, Selenium etc.)
- Support the shift-left testing approach by planning integration of automation into early-stage development
- Establish KPIs and visibility for test coverage, test health, and regression readiness
- Promote consistent test practices across squads, including naming conventions, tagging, and execution strategies
- Define quality metrics that support data-driven decisions and foster continuous improvement
- Ensure test governance aligns with industry and regulatory standards
- Manage changes to environments owned by the team ensuring that quality gates are met before changes are introduced and adequate communication plans are in place to inform teams when changes are made
- Foster a culture of shared ownership, proactive testing and cross-team learning
- Support retrospectives and help teams turn QA feedback into meaningful change
- Partner with Engineering and Product on test strategy, resource planning and delivery accountability
Desirable skills:
- Experience leading geographically distributed QA teams
- Experience with leveraging AI to improve QA processes and engineer productivity
- Experience with performance, accessibility and security testing approaches
- Understanding of airline systems, e-commerce customer flows or regulated environments
