About the Position
Reporting directly to VP, Head of Finance Business Transformation, the Project Manager - Accounting is responsible for, but not limited to supporting global, function-specific or location-specific projects for the global finance team, including with respect to global finance systems, and business process reviews and enhancement. In addition, the Project Manager - Accounting is responsible for supporting the achievement of the global finance function’s strategic priorities, particularly with respect to enhancing system capabilities to support the needs of the business, and to achieving efficiencies within the finance function.
The Project Manager – Accounting role is based in the Dublin office, with select travel to other RenRe offices.

Key Responsibilities
-
Assist global Finance team projects and provide support to the global Finance team with respect to systems, data and process reviews, business process enhancements and projects, including identifying issues, challenges and opportunities.

Support ongoing review of global systems and processes with a focus on streamlining and value-added activities and on ensuring a cohesive approach to systems development and process improvement, in conjunction with Finance and IT leadership teams

Provide detailed analysis to the Controllership with respect to Finance systems, processes and controls, and troubleshoot any issues identified through to a successful conclusion

Support the on-going refinement and improvement of processes, analytical tools and systems across the Company’s global finance function to support the growing needs of the global organization

Support the coordination of Finance activities and systems globally to ensure consistency, alignment, accuracy and efficiency across all platforms

Liaise with the global finance team to troubleshoot complex issues and ensure processes and systems are efficient, and meet business needs

Provide updates to project Steering Committees as required, in respect of systems projects or business process improvements

Support the coordination with the finance IT team and the IT management team to ensure that finance systems meet the processing requirements of users, accurately record all transactions, are flexible enough to react to changes in the business

Support strategic priorities of the global organization, including M&A transactions, as required

Liaise with internal auditors and vendors, in connection with strategic projects and initiatives
Candidate Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

A university degree is required preferably with an emphasis on business, finance and accounting.

A professional accounting designation (e.g. CA, ACA, CPA).

At least 5 years prior relevant industry experience (Ideally including audit experience, preferably within the relevant functional area, including but not limited to investments, reinsurance, consolidation and procurement).

Strong background in business process reviews and analysis, finance systems and internal controls

Strong project management experience, experience with various project management methodologies (e.g. PMP, LEAN, AGILE).

Proficiency in the use of computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite, etc.)

Experience in managing large volumes of data, accessing, and querying databases is preferred.

Strong working knowledge of general ledger and other accounting sub-systems

Strong knowledge of US GAAP, other relevant GAAP or regulatory reporting requirements as applicable.

Experience with public companies, SEC reporting and SOX 404 is preferred.
