The blocks that form our foundational teams - People, Finance, Counsel, Hardware, Information Security, Platform Infrastructure Engineering, and more - provide support and guidance at the corporate level. They work across business groups and around the globe, spanning time zones and disciplines to develop inclusive People policies, forecast finances, give legal counsel, safeguard systems, nurture new initiatives, and more. The Role
Block is hiring a Program Manager, ERM Tech Strategy & Architecture to guide the evolution of our enterprise risk management capabilities. You will shape the strategic direction and architectural foundation of our GRC platform (Protecht), while pioneering the integration of risk tooling through Block's proprietary open-source AI agent, Goose. Leading with a tech-first mindset, you'll architect innovative solutions to create next-generation enterprise risk management solutions at Block.
The focus is on evolving our risk platforms and data flows to support scalable, insight-driven tooling that brings ERM frameworks to life and embedding risk into daily decision-making to support smarter, faster risk insights. We are looking for a strong understanding of how risk frameworks work under the hood, ensuring systems and data infrastructure reflect and reinforce those principles. It also involves shaping how the platform functions, defining rules of engagement, and collaborating with delivery and enablement partners to ensure alignment with the broader ERM vision.
You Will
  • Shape Block's ERM tech vision and roadmap, aligning with our engineering-driven culture
  • Guide technology innovation in risk management through AI integration and open-source development
  • Shape and govern the platform roadmap, intake process, and enhancement prioritization to ensure continued relevance and value
  • Lead the architectural design of our GRC tech stack, focusing on user experience and scalability
  • Define and maintain our risk tech ecosystem, including API strategies and data architecture
  • Establish design principles and data architecture standards that guide system development
  • Integrate ERM tooling into daily workflows through Goose, embedding risk decision support where work happens
  • Translate ERM frameworks into intuitive system behaviors and workflows
  • Advance risk intelligence by integrating RCSAs, risk posture, and KRI frameworks into live monitoring and insight-driven dashboards
  • Represent ERM platform capabilities to internal and external stakeholders, including regulators and auditors
  • Drive platform adoption through clear communication and demonstrated value

You Have
  • 8+ years of experience leading risk technology strategy and architecture, with deep expertise in GRC platforms, risk data architecture, and enterprise risk systems
  • Track record of leading tech modernization initiatives and architectural transformations
  • Deep understanding of modern data infrastructure, including APIs, data lakes, and embedded analytics
  • Hands-on experience with platform governance, system configuration and data quality standards
  • A product and platform mindset focused on usability, scalability, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience translating complex risk frameworks into intuitive technical solutions
  • Strong communication skills with experience influencing senior stakeholders and technical teams
