Gen operates a hybrid flexible working policy with a requirement to be in the office 3 days a week on average, and with flexibility to choose the exact days to match your team’s established cadence and your personal circumstances.

Mission and Goal

We are excited to be adding a Senior Program Manager Product Operations role to our Program Management Office (PMO) team based in Dublin. This critical role ensures the on-time delivery of high-quality products and services to our customers in pursuit of our company goals.

A Senior Product Program Manager at Gen has an incredible attention to detail and a passion for continuous improvement. They will be proactive, structured, and process-driven, planning and monitoring the progression of the product program or project from initiation through to delivery. They will understand the detail of what needs to get done, create a work breakdown structure, and prepare the schedule to track the progress of the project. They will step in to unblock the project when it is blocked, and they will bring all the key contributors together to ensure a satisfactory solution. When there are issues, they will help update our processes to stop the issue from ever happening again.

This crucial role requires outstanding interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will be managing the inter-dependent relationship between the core project team and Gen’s cross-functional teams spanning Product Engineering, Product Management, Product Marketing, Go-to-Market, Legal, and Support. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, able to operate independently but also instinctively a team player, moving between different functions at the company, monitoring progress and finding solutions that help take our business forward. To this end, you will understand the importance of communication and possess outstanding communication skills of your own.

The Senior Product Program Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing and optimizing our portfolio of initiatives focused on new product launches and growing the business. This role requires strong leadership and organizational skills, as well as a deep understanding of project management methodologies. Your discipline and application will ensure senior management is kept regularly appraised and informed on delivery progress.

  • Short-term goals: Manage the execution of multiple product initiatives, track progress, and identify any risks to ensure successful delivery.
  • Long-term goals: Continuously improve program management processes and lead successful product launches that help grow the business.

Objectives

Program Strategy, Planning, and Management:

  • Manage multiple projects or programs, including milestone and schedule management.
  • Own program execution and delivery across multiple increments, tracking progress and dependencies.
  • Collaborate with project sponsors and cross-functional teams to plan scope, deliverables, resources, work plans, budgets, and timing for new initiatives.
  • Create and manage team backlogs, clearly communicate status to stakeholders and senior management.
  • Proactively find solutions to bottlenecks and program risks, balancing business needs versus technical constraints.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Facilitate discussions between project teams, product management, and engineering.
  • Actively seek clarification when there is ambiguity.
  • Be a trusted advisor to internal and external business partners/stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with PMO peers, product, and business leadership to align programs, projects, and operations with business objectives.

Program Reporting and Evaluation:

  • Keep senior management regularly appraised on project delivery progress.
  • Aggregate, organize, and analyze program and project information for communication with the extended team and management.
  • Prepare and present milestone reviews to upper-level management with input from project teams.
  • Monitor and report on the overall health and performance of the project portfolio.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Cultivate and drive a culture of innovation and effective problem-solving.
  • Seek opportunities to improve team efficiency and processes.
  • Implement repeatable processes that help manage multiple parallel projects and drive business results.

Competencies

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience working as a project/program manager in an Agile environment.
  • Degree: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Complex Project Management: Experience in planning and driving complex, end-to-end software projects across organizations.
  • Agile & PI Planning: Experience leading programs within a release train and running PI Planning.
  • Organization & Time Management: Extremely organized with advanced time-management skills for coordinating global, cross-functional teams.
  • Communication: Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Detail-Oriented: Ability to manage complexity, drive execution, and influence without authority, while being extremely detail-oriented.
  • Problem Solving: Curiosity and the ability to identify patterns in complex situations, with a knack for connecting the dots and bringing teams together to solve challenges.
